Difficulties Encountered in Learning Processes on the Students in Elementary Schools

ÖZETBu araştırmanın amacı; Van İli merkezinde ilköğretimin birincikademesindeki öğrencilerin karşılaştıkları öğrenme güçlüklerini ortaya çıkarmak, buetkenlerden her birinin katkısını belirleyici kanıtlarla birleştirmek ve bu etkenlerikontrol ederek en az düzeye indirmektir.Van İli merkezini kapsayan evrende yaşayan insanların; çok çocuklu aileyapıları, sosyo-ekonomik durumları, eğitim ve kültür düzeyleri, eğitim veöğretime verdikleri önem gibi çevresel faktörlerden kaynaklanan öğrenmegüçlüklerini tümüyle ortadan kaldırmak ve hatadan arındırmak kısa dönemde güçolmakla birlikte, uygulama açısından bu hataların ne kadar azaltılabileceğininbelirlenmesi her zaman mümkün görülmektedir.İlköğretimin birinci kademesindeki öğrencilerin öğrenmelerini güçleştirendiğer etkenlerden birinin; aşırı kalabalık sınıf ortamındaki öğretimde, ?öğrenciyeneyin daha iyi öğretilebileceğine yönelik bir strateji yerine, herşeyi öğretmestratejisine? önem verilmiş olmasından kaynaklandığını söyleyebiliriz. Nitekim,Van İli merkezini kapsayan evrende bugünkü uygulamalara göre, 35 ile 55 kişiarasında oluşturulan öğrenci grubuna yönelik tek tip bir öğretme-öğrenme modeli,öğrencilerden bazıları için etkili ve yararlı olurken, diğerleri için etkisiz kalması veyararlı olmaması, sıkça karşılaşılan bir sorun olmaktadır.Araştırma yapılan ilköğretim okullarında öğretim ve öğrenme konularında,öğrencilerin karşılaştıkları güçlüklerin en az düzeye indirilebilmesi; sınıf ortamında152

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to investigate the difficulties encountered byelementary school students in the center of the Van province and to integrate thecontribution of either of these factors with the determining proofs and to reduce theeffects of these factors to the minimum by manipulating the factors mentioned.Although it seems impossible in a short term to completely eliminate thelearning difficulties stemming from environmental factors such as family structurewith many children, socio-economic status, educational and cultural level andimportance given to teaching and education by those people living in the centre ofthe Van province, it is possible to determine to what extent these mistakes(difficulties ) can be eliminated in practice.We can suggest that one of the factors which makes the learning difficult forthe students at this stage is that a strategy of teaching everything is emphasizedinstead of a strategy involving what is to be taught best in overcrowded classrooms.While one type of teaching-learning model can be effective for some students in 35to 55 student-classrooms, its ineffectiveness for the others in the same group is oneof the common problems encountered.In order to eliminate some of the problems in the schools where this studywas conducted, it is necessary to implement techniques and methods which addressdifferences in intelligences, learning styles, abilities and interests of students.The data were obtained from ideas and opinions of 228 classroom teachers in15 elementary schools in three different districts through a questionnaire of 25original items. These findings were analyzed with SPSS 10.0 for Windows programand some solutions were suggested.176
