An Investigation of Narrative Texts in 5th Grade Turkish Course Books in Terms of Child Reality
Abstract
Çalışmanın sonunda ANITTEPE Yayıncılık'a ait ders kitabındaki hikâye edici metinlerin %55, KOZA Yayıncılık ders kitabındaki metinlerin ise %45 oranında çocuk gerçekliğine uygunluk gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bu sonuç, bu ilkeyi gözeten metinlerin yanında yeterince gözetmeyen metinlerin de yer aldığını, dolayısıyla incelenen Türkçe ders kitaplarının çocuk gerçekliğini tam anlamıyla dikkate almadığını göstermektedir. Anahtar sözcükler: çocuk gerçekliği, 5. sınıf Türkçe ders kitapları, hikâye edici metinler
The aim of this study is to examine the narrative texts in 5th grade Turkish textbooks in terms of 'child reality'. Within the framework of this purpose, the narrative texts in the books in question were discussed in terms of their suitability for the child's nature, needs, perspective, interest, language and universe of meaning. The study was conducted according to document analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The material of the study consists of narrative texts in the books of ANITTEPE and KOZA Publishing, which were taught for the 5th grade Turkish course in the 2023-2024 Academic Year by the Ministry of National Education, Board of Education and Discipline. The data obtained was analyzed with descriptive analysis, expressed with numerical data, presented in tables and interpreted. At the end of the study, it was determined that 55% of the narrative texts in the ANITTEPE Publishing textbook and 45% of the texts in the KOZA Publishing textbook were compatible with children's reality. This result shows that, in addition to the texts that observe this principle, there are also texts that do not sufficiently observe it, and therefore the Turkish textbooks examined do not fully take into account children's reality. Keywords: child reality, 5th grade Turkish textbooks, narrative texts
