Science Teachers' Opinions About Developing Technology in Science Centers

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, bilim merkezlerinde gelişen teknoloji hakkında fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırma Türkiye' de devlet okullarında görev yapan ortaokul kademesindeki fen bilimleri öğretmenleri arasından uygun örnekleme yöntemiyle 16 fen bilimleri öğretmeni ile nitel yöntem kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın verileri, araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat soruları yardımıyla toplanarak betimsel analiz ve içerik analizi ile çözümlenmiştir. Yapılan araştırmanın bulgularında öğretmenlerin gelişen teknoloji üzerine olumlu yönde etkileyebileceği konusunda çoğunluk gösterdiği görülmüştür. Öğretmenlerin sürekli değişim gösteren ve gelişen teknolojiyle çağa ayak uydurmak ve karmaşık yapıda olan bilimsel ve teknolojik konuların bilim merkezleriyle desteklenerek fen eğitimine olan katkısı ön plana çıkmıştır. Öğretmenlerin mesleki görevlerini yerine getirirken bilim merkezlerinden destek alarak kalıcı öğrenmeyi sağlamak istedikleri ancak bilim merkezi sayısının yeterince olmadığı ve ulaşılabilirliğinin az olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Söz konusu olan bu çalışmayla bilim merkezlerine olan teşvikin arttırılması, ziyaretçilere açık olan bilim merkezlerinde ise gelişen teknolojiyle birlikte bilime olan katkısı konusunda araştırma yapılmıştır.

The aim of this research is to examine the views of science teachers about the developing technology in science centers. The research was carried out using the qualitative method with 16 science teachers with convenient sampling method among the secondary school science teachers working in public schools in Turkey. The data of the research were collected with the help of semi-structured interview questions created by the researcher and analyzed by descriptive analysis and content analysis. In the findings of the research, it was seen that the majority of teachers showed that they can affect the developing technology positively. The contribution of teachers to science education has come to the forefront by keeping up with the age with constantly changing and developing technology and by supporting the scientific and technological subjects, which have a complex structure, with science centers. It has been understood that teachers want to provide permanent learning by getting support from science centers while fulfilling their professional duties, but the number of science centers is not enough and their accessibility is low. With this study, research was carried out on increasing the incentives for science centers, and on the contribution of science to science centers, which are open to visitors, together with the developing technology.
