The Indication of Performance Level of Experimental Activities Which Are Included in Science and Technology Teaching Schedule in Secondary

Abstract

Bu araştırma, Fen ve Teknoloji Dersi Öğretim Programında yer alan deneysel etkinliklerin yapılma düzeylerini tespit etmek, etkinliklerin amacına ulaşıp ulaşmadığını saptamak ve etkinliklerin yapılmama nedenlerini belirlemek amacıyla 2009-2010 eğitim-öğretim yılında, iki ayrı dönemde ilköğretim ikinci kademede Van il merkezinde görev yapan 150 Fen ve Teknoloji öğretmeni ile yapılmıştır. Ayrıca 15 Fen ve Teknoloji öğretmenine de yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat soruları yönlendirilmiştir.Çalışmada elde edilen bulgular değerlendirilirken, istatistiksel analizler için SPSS for Windows 17.0 programı kullanılmıştır. Çalışma verileri değerlendirilirken tanımlayıcı istatistiksel metotları olan, Frekans, Yüzde, Ortalama ve Standart sapma kullanılmıştır.Niceliksel verilerin karşılaştırılmasında iki grup olduğu durumlarda, gruplar arası karşılaştırmalarda Bağımsız örnekler t testi kullanılmıştır. İkiden fazla grup durumunda parametrelerin gruplar arası karşılaştırmalarında Tek yönlü Anova testi kullanılmıştır.Anket sonuçlarına göre;Araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerin etkinlikleri yapma oranı ve etkinliğin amacına ulaşma oranı ortalamalarının, cinsiyet değişkenine göre, kıdem değişkenine göre, fakülte değişkenine göre ve lisansüstü eğitim değişkenine göre grup ortalamaları arasındaki fark istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bulunamamıştır.Araştırmaya katılan 6.sınıf öğretmenlerinin ortalama etkinlik yapma sayısı 24; toplam etkinlik içinde etkinlik yapma oranları %68, 7.sınıf öğretmenlerinin ortalama etkinlik yapma sayısı 18; toplam etkinlik içinde etkinlik yapma oranları %64 ve 8.sınıf öğretmenlerinin ortalama etkinlik yapma sayısı 26; toplam etkinlik içinde etkinlik yapma oranları %70 olarak bulunmuştur.Araştırmada; deneysel etkinliklerin yapılamama nedenleri arasında daha çok sınıfların kalabalık oluşu, okullardaki araç-gereç eksikliği ve zamanın yetersiz oluşu gösterilmiştir. Ayrıca öğrenci seviyesinin üzerinde olması nedeniyle veya öğretmen tarafından gerekli bulunmadığı için de büyük oranda yapılmayan etkinlikler olduğu saptanmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Deneysel etkinlik, Fen ve teknoloji müfredat programı, İlköğretim, ÖğretmenThis study has been conducted with 150 science and technology teachers working in secondary schools in 2009- 2010 school term. The main purposes of the study are; to discover whether the experimental activities, existing in the education schedule, are performed or not, the degree of the application of these activities and to bring the reasons of not actualizing the activities into light. Furthermore, 15 science and technology teachers were asked half-structured oral questions.While evaluating the outcomes obtained from the study, Statistical Package for Social Sciences for windows 17.0 has been used. When the data were being evaluated frequency percent,average and standard declination,which contained descriptive statistic methods, have been used. When there were two groups ''t'' test was used for the comparison of independent examples. In the case of the groups more than two ,one sided Anova test has been benefited from for the comparison of parameters between groups.According to the survey results:The rate of teachers who perform the experimental activities and the rate of the success they have reached haven't been meaningful. Furthermore according to the sexual,rank, faculty and post-graduate education changeabilities,the difference between the group averages hasn't been found meaningful either. The average activity performing number of the sixth grade teachers ,who participated in the research, is 24 ,and the rate of performing activity is 68%. On the other hand the average activity performing number of the seventh grade teachers is 18 and the rate of performing activity is 64%. Finally, to talk about eighth grade teachers; the number of average activities is 26 and the rate is 70%.In the research, the reasons of not performing the experimental activities are; the crowded classes,lack of equipments, and insufficient time to actualize them. In addition to these, other reasons such as the activities' being over the level of the students and their being considered as unnecessary by the teachers cause experimental activities not to be done.Key Words: Experimental activity, Primary school, Science and technology schedule programme, Teacher.
