The Importance of Level Ykl-40 in Gastric Cancer Patients

Abstract

Giriş: YKL-40 malign tümör hücrelerinin büyüme faktörüdür. Pek çok kanser tiplerinde artmış YKL-40 düzeyleri angiogenezis ile ve zayıf prognozis ile ilişkilidir. Ancak, YKL-40'ın ekspresiyonu mide kanserinde açıklanamamıştır.Materyal ve Metod: Bu çalışmada serum YKL-40 düzeylerini enzim bağlıimmunosorbent ölçüm yöntemi (ELISA) ile 100 mide kanserli hastada ve 75 sağlıklı bireyde ölçtük.Bulgular: Hastalarımızın serum YKL-40 düzeylerini, 140 ± 78 µ/l olarak bulduk. Sağlıklı bireylerimizin serum YKL-40 düzeylerini 25 ± 9 µ/l olarak bulduk (p<0.0001).Sonuç: Çalışmamızın sonuçlarına göre, artmış serum YKL-40 düzeyleri agresif tümör hücreleri ile ilişkilidir. YKL-40 düzeyleri, mide kanserinin önlenmesi için bağımsız bir moleküler markır olarak kullanılabilinir.Background: YKL-40 is a growth factor of malignant tumor cells. Increased serum YKL-40 concentration has been associated with angiogenesis a poor prognosis in many cancer types. However, the expression of YKL-40 in gastric cancer is unclear.Material and Method: In this study, the serum levels of YKL-40 were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in 100 patients with gastric cancer and 75 healthy volunteers.Results: We are found as 140 ± 78 µ/l of the serum YKL-40 levels in patients with gastric cancer. We are found as 25 ± 9 µ/l in healthy volunteers (p<0.0001).Conclusion: Our study shows that the increased serum YKL-40 levels are correlated with aggressive tumor cells. YKL-40 levels could be used an independent molecular marker for the predicting in gastric cancer.
