Compariosan Between Love Morality of Hilmi Ziya Ülken and Rebellion Morality of Nurettin Topçu
Abstract
From past to present, morality that preserves its existence wherever people exist has been the subject of debate, and also philosophers, thinkers, and religious men shared their opinions on why people should be moral and they established moral systems. This work is examining the moral ideas of Hilmi Ziya Ülken and Nurettin Topçu who lived in the same period with a similar concern. Ülken and Topçu set up their moral systems by criticizing the moral systems that preceded them. Ülken, who divides morality into four stages advocated that people can reach love morality by exceeding these stages and Topçu advocates that individuals can reach rebellion morality by being opposed to delight that enslaves people, solidarity, and powers of dominance. In this work, Ülken's Love Morality book and Topçu's doctoral thesis has been used as the main sources. The aim of this thesis work is to draw the baseline of Love and Rebellion Morality, introducing the systems in general, and then compare these two morality systems.
