Determination of the Yield and Quality Parameters of Some Capia Type Pepper Cultivars in Diyarbakir Conditions
Abstract
The study was carried out to determine the yield and quality parameters of some capia pepper cultivars in Diyarbakır conditions in three replications according to randomized blocks experimental design at Gap International Agricultural Research and Education Center Directorate. Ten capia pepper cultivars were employed in the experiment. In the study, the determined traits were flowering time, plant height, stem thickness, leaf length, leaf width, internode length, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit stalk length, fruit wall thickness, yield per decare for agronomic and phenological observation; and of TSS (brix), pH, titratable acidity and vitamin C for quality traits. As a result of the experiment, it was determined that the varieties had yield values range from 441.28 kg to 1474.50 kg da-1. Moreover, other traits of the cultivars ranged as 50% flowering time was 21 June-30 June; plant height was 47.34-58.08 cm; stem thickness was 11.61-14.89 mm; leaf length was 82.71-109.72 mm; leaf width was 37.40-52.08 mm; internode length was 39.28-54.64 mm; fruit length was 79.64-125.33 mm; fruit diameter was 24.63-42.80 mm, fruit stalk length was 21.31-37.65 mm, fruit wall thickness was 2.41-3.83 mm, TSS value was 9.09-12.90, pH value was 5.34-5.52%, titratable acidity was 3.03-3.74; and the vitamin C values ranged from 1.05 to 2.18 mg 100 g-1. In conclusion; it has been observed that there is no particular cultivar that stands out in terms of all parameters examined; While it was determined that cv. Diyar came to the fore in terms of leaf length, leaf width and petiole length values, it was determined that cv. Samarkand had the highest value in yield, which is an important criterion. In addition, it has been seen that cv. Bursa Yaglik comes to the fore in terms of vitamin C content, which is among the vitamins necessary for the human body.
