Problems Faced in History Education in Secondary Schools and Recommendations for Solutions (Van City Example)

Abstract

Bu çalışma, ortaöğretimde Tarih öğretiminde karşılaşılan problemleri çeşitli envanter çalışmaları irdelenip, öğretmenlerin görüşleri doğrultusunda araştırılarak karşılaşılan problemlere çözüm önerileri bulmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma 2012-2013 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında, Van merkez ve ilçelerindeki ortaöğretimde görev yapan 116 tarih öğretmen üzerinde yapılmıştır. Bu araştırma ile tarih öğretiminde karşılaşılan problemler araştırılarak, tarih öğretiminin mevcut durum değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırma ortaöğretimde tarih dersi veren öğretmenlerin görüşlerine dayalı olarak yapılmıştır. Bu tez çalışmasında, anket çalışması yapılarak, ayrıca çalışmaya yardımcı olabilecek kaynaklar araştırılarak yararlı görünen bilgiler alınmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmalar neticesinde elde edilen bulgular ve çözüm önerileri çalışmanın sonucunda verilmiştir. Problemlerin değerlendirilmesinde SPSS istatistik programı kullanılmıştır. Uygulanan anket çalışmasında katılımcıların hem sunulan sorunlara hem de sorunlara yönelik sunulan çözüm önerilerine büyük oranda katıldığı görülmüştür. This study aims at providing recommendations and solutions to the problems faced in secondary educational institutions in the field of history education by researching some inventory and data within the context of the points of view of history teachers working in Van city center and it's nvirons. The study was coducted on 116 of these teachers in 2012-2013. With this investigation the current status of teachers in history education was evaluated through analyses of some of the problems faced in the field; Our study was conducted based on the opinions of the teachers in history education; throughout our investigation, various methodologies like questionnaires and recruitment of data relevant to our thesis were adopted, and evaluation of different recommendations and options was made with such utilites as SPSS used in the course of our investigation; and findings obtained throughout our investigations were discussed with a sufficient number of the teachers who participated in the study. In conclusion, we came to the realization that the corollaries, premises and findings we comprised would prove to be useful for those people preoccupied in the profession of history education.
