A Review Of Afşar Timuçin's Stories
Abstract
Afşar Timuçin is an intellectual who has produced many different literary works. The author, who produces works in many branches from reviews and research articles to translations and essays, from poetry and novel to philosophy and short story, is a very productive person. One of the branches in which Timuçin, who draws attention with his philosopher identity, worked was short stories. The writer, who started to write short stories after the 1950s, pursues a rather socialist realist line. Timuçin takes ordinary people as a basis in his stories, which are based on a sincere language and a realistic perspective. These stories, which are based on deep observation, make use of situations and sections rather than events. In Timuçin's stories, the pains, joys, delusions, weaknesses, virtues and struggle for life of the little person have an important place. Although a political language is not used, a critical approach is displayed against individuals, society or some social acceptances with some references. In this study, first of all, the type ofstory and the course of the genre in our literature were mentioned; information about the author's life, understanding of art and works were shared. Then, the author's stories, which were published as a book, were examined in terms of structure and content. In line with the results obtained, Afşar Timuçin's understanding of story and his place in Turkish storytelling, about which no academic study has been done before, has been tried to be determined.
