The Role of Women in Social Life in Şule Yüksel Şenler's Works

Abstract

Günümüz dünyası modernizmin kadına bakışını doğru bulurken İslam'ın kadına bakışını eleştirmektedir. Bu eleştiri, daha çok Batı'nın oluşturduğu İslam algısından ileri gelmektedir. Modern Türkiye'de kadının erkekle eşit haklara sahip olması ile ilgili birçok yasal düzenleme yapılırken kadına dair olumsuz bakışlar İslam kaynaklı olduğu algısı oluşturulmuştur. Kadına yönelik bir grup, cemaat ya da bireyin gerçekleştirdiği olumsuz davranış İslam'a mal edilmiştir. Bu durum, dini ve geleneği referans alan yazarlar tarafından eleştirilmiş düşünceye ve kurguya dayalı eserlere yansıtılmıştır. Bu meseleyi eserlerine yansıtanlardan biri de son dönem yazarlarından Şule Yüksel Şenler'dir. İslamî kimliği ile bilinen Şule Yüksel Şenler, ülkenin dört bir yanında verdiği konferanslar ile İslam'ı temsil eden kadın entelektüel prototipini bir aydın olarak öne çıkarmaya çalışır. Yazdığı eserlerde kadın kimliğini yeniden İslam ile harmanlayarak İslam'da kadının nasıl bir rol alması gerektiğini ortaya koyar. Bunu da eserleri aracılığı ile topluma ulaştırmaya çalışır. Yazarın bu konuda tanınmasını sağlayan kitabı, Huzur Sokağı adlı romanıdır. Eserlerinde genellikle halk arasında yaşayan kişilerin İslam'ı yaşama hassasiyetleri, derin tahliller yapılarak kaleme alınır. Osmanlı Devleti'nin yıkılmasından sonra ortaya çıkan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin kadına bakışı, İslamî bağlamda eksik bırakıldığı görülür. Bırakılan eksiklerin ülkede var olan kadın rollerinde çatışmaya sebebiyet verdiği bilinir. Çatışmayı gören Şule Yüksel Şenler, bu vakayı eserlerine yansıtır. Yazar, 'Müslüman Kadın' profilini inşa etme adına faaliyete geçerek gerek yazdığı eserler gerekse de ülkenin dört bir yanından verdiği konferanslar ile ülkenin kadınlarını bilinçlendirmeyi amaçlar. Kadının İslam'da, toplumsal ve sosyal hayattaki rollerini okura sunmak ister. Kadında daha önceden pasif olan hak savunma mekanizmasını aktifleştirmeyi amaçlar. Bu bağlamda çalışmamızda Şule Yüksel Şenler'in başta romanları olmak üzere on üç eseri, kadın ve kadının sosyal hayattaki rolleri bakımından incelenecektir.

Negative behavior towards women by a group, community or individual has been attributed to Islam. This situation is reflected in works based on thought and fiction that have been criticized by writers who reference religion and tradition. One of those who reflect this issue in her works is Şule Yüksel Şenler, one of the late writers. Şule Yüksel Şenler, known for her Islamic identity, tries to highlight the female intellectual prototype that represents Islam as an intellectual with the conferences she gives all over the country. It seems that the view of women of the Republic of Türkiye, which emerged after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, was left incomplete in the Islamic context. It is observed that the deficiencies left cause conflict in women's roles in the country. Şule Yüksel Şenler, who saw this conflict, reflects this incident in her works. The author takes action to build the 'Muslim Woman' profile and aims to raise awareness among the women of the country, both with the works she writes and the conferences she gives from all over the country. She wants to present to the reader the roles of women in Islam and social life. He wants to activate the previously passive rights defense mechanism in women. In this context, in our study, Şule Yüksel Şenler's thirteen works, especially her novels, will be examined in terms of women and their roles in social life.
