Examination of Landscape Design Applications in Primary School Gardens: Modeling in the Case of Van Province Zaferler Primary School

Abstract

Geleceğimiz olan çocuklar; fiziksel ve bilişsel olarak gelişimlerinin sağlanması için uygun ortamlara ihtiyaç duyarlar. Zamanlarının büyük bir çoğunluğunu okullarda geçirdikleri göz önüne alındığında okul alanları, çocukların ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacak nitelikte olmalıdır. Doğal çevrenin çocukların öğrenmesi ve gelişimi üzerindeki etkisi, çocuk araştırmalarında düşük önceliğe sahip bir konu olmuştur ve çocuklar için doğal oyun alanlarının önemi de fiziksel planlamada ihmal edildiği görülmüştür. Bu çalışma Van kent merkezinde bulunan ilköğretim okul bahçelerinin belirlenen kılavuz ve standartlara uygunluklarını tespit etmek ve örnek bir peyzaj tasarım projesinin modellemesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Mevcut durum analizi yapılan okullarda, kişi başına düşen alan ile okul bahçesinde bulunması gereken kullanım alanlarının yetersiz olduğu görülmüştür. Var olan kullanım alanlarının ise belirlenen kılavuz ve standartlara uymadığı ortaya konulmuştur. Çalışma alanı Van kent merkez ilçesi olan İpekyolu ilçesinde yer almaktadır. Belirli kriterlere göre seçilen 12 ilköğretim okulunda yerinde gözlem ve inceleme, çocuklarla sözlü görüşmeler ve uzman görüşü alınmıştır. Sonuç olarak mevcut olan okulların kullanım alanları bakımından çocukların gelişimlerine katkı sağlayacak şekilde iyileştirilmesi gerektiği tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan çalışma sonunda elde edilen verilerle seçilen pilot okul için örnek teşkil etmesi amaçlanarak peyzaj tasarım modellemesi yapılmıştır. Tez çalışması sonuçları ve hazırlanan peyzaj tasarım örneği yeni yapılacak veya iyileştirme yapılması gereken okullar için çocukların ihtiyaçlarına cevap verecek standartları sağlamak açısından altlık oluşturabileceği düşünülmektedir.Children who are our future; They need suitable environments for their physical and cognitive development. The impact of the natural environment on children's learning and development has been a low priority topic in children's research, and the importance of natural playgrounds for children has also been neglected in physical planning. This study aims to determine the compliance of the primary school gardens in the center of Van with the guidelines and standards and ıt ws made to model an exemplary landscape design project. In the schools where the current situation analysis is being carried out, it was observed that the area per person and the usage areas in the school garden were insufficient. The zones are found to be non-compliant with the guidelines and standards. The study is located in the İpekyolu district, the central district of Van. Onsite observation and review, oral interviews with children and expert opinions were received at 12 primary schools selected according to certain criteria. Based on the data obtained, it was determined that the existing schools should be improved in a way that contributes to children's development in terms of the areas of use. The landscape design modeling was done with the aim of setting an example for the pilot school selected with the data obtained at the end of the study. The data obtained from the landscaping design example and the results of the thesis work are thought to be a basis for ensuring standards that meet the needs of schools and children that need to be improved.
