The Usege of Place in Teaching History and Teacher Views: the Example of Bitlis Province

Abstract

Bu yüksek lisans tezinin amacı; tarihi mekân ve medeniyet unsurlarının tarih öğretimine katkısını ve kullanılabilirliğini araştırarak, Bitlis'te ki tarihi alanların yerel tarih öğretimine katkısını ve ders öğretmenlerinin konu ile ilgili görüşlerini değerlendirmektir.Tez dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. 1. bölümde; tarih biliminin kapsamı, tanımı ve tarih öğretiminin tanımı ve amacı ile ilgili teorik bilgiler verilmiştir. 2. bölümde; tarih öğretiminde tarihi mekânların kullanımı ile ilgili teorik bilgilere yer verilmiştir.3. bölümde; Bitlis tarihi ve ildeki tarihi alanlar ve yapılar hakkında teorik bilgiler verilmiş, bunun yanı sıra görsel unsurlar ve yapılara ait planlara yer verilmiştir. 4. Bölümde ise ders öğretmenlerinin Bitlis'te ki tarihi mekân ve medeniyet unsurları hakkında ki bilgi düzeyleri ve tarih öğretiminde bu bilgilerin kullanımı ile ilgili yapılan anket çalışması değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi; Bitlis ili ve Tatvan ilçesinde ilköğretim ve ortaöğretimde görevli 65 tarih ve sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri ile sınırlıdır. Burada sorulan sorular bağlamında öğretmenlerin Bitlis'te ki tarihi mekânlar ve tarih öğretimine yaklaşımları belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular şöyledir;1-Ders öğretmenleri Bitlis'te ki tarihi mekân ve medeniyet unsurları hakkındayeterli bilgiye sahiptirler, ancak bu bilgilerin derslerde kullanımı yeterli düzeyde değildir.2-Ders öğretmenlerinin mezun oldukları okula, çalışma sürelerine, çalıştıklarıokul, öğretim düzeyi ve mekân bilgisine göre tarihi mekân ile tarih öğretimine ilişkin görüşlerinde bazı farklılıklar görünmektedir.Anahtar Sözcükler: Tarihi Mekân, Medeniyet unsurları, Tarih Öğretimi, Yerel Tarih, Bitlis'te ki tarihi mekânlar

The aim of this high licence thesis is to investigate the usage and supplements of historical places and civilization elements to the history teaching and to evaluate to contribution of the historical places to local history teaching and the opinions of history teachers about this subject.The thesis is consisted of four parts. In the first part; the definition and the contents of the history science, and the theoritical knowledge about the aim and the definition of history teaching are given. In the second part; theoretical information about the usage of historical places in history teaching are given. In the third part; history of Bitlis, and the theoretical information about the historical places and buildings in Bitlis are given. In addition to this there are some visual elements and plans of the constructions are shown. In the fourth part; there is an evaluation of the survey study about the usage of historical places and civiliziation elements in Bitlis in history teaching and the information level of history teachers? about the historical places and civilization elements in Bitlis are mentioned.. The sample of the survey is limited with the sixtyfive ?history? and ?social sciences teachers? who work in primary and high schools in Bitlis and Tatvan cities. These findings of the search are as the followings.1.The teachers have enough knowledge about the historical places and civilization elements in Bitlis and Tatvan cities however they don?t use them enough during the courses.2.There are some differences ideas between teachers due to the fact that the schools that they work at, the faculties that they are graduated from, professional experience in education and the knowledge about historical places.Key Words : Historical Place, Civilization Elements, History Teaching, Local History, Historical Places in Bitlis.
