Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the yield and some quality values of silage soybean varieties at different planting times. The study was carried out in 2022 at the field of the Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture, Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. The Yemsoy and Yeşilsoy soybean varieties were used in the study. The study was conducted in three replications according to the Factorial Trial Design in Randomized Blocks. Sowing times were performed in five different periods: 20 April, 5 May, 20 May, 5 June and 20 June. According to the results obtained from the research, the plant height varied between 51.3 and 89.7 cm, with the highest value being obtained on 5 May. The highest green forage yield values were 1974.1 kg/da and 2005.2 kg/da, respectively, on 5 May and 20 May, while the lowest yield value was 660.7 kg/da on 20 June. The highest values of crude protein content were determined on 5 May and 5 June, whereas the lowest value was detected on 20 June. The lowest value for ADF (Acid Detergent Fiber) ratio was measured on 20 May. The highest values for NDF (Neutral Detergent Fiber) ratio were observed on 5 May, 20 May and 5 June, while the lowest value was obtained on 20 June sowing dates. The highest values for relative feed value ratio were detected on 20 May and 20 June. According to the research findings, silage soybean can be utilized as a feed option in regions with short growing seasons.
