Abstract

Helicobacter pylori is a Gram-negative organism and appears to be the most common worldwide human infection. Infection due to Helicobacter pylori can lead to the development of gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, gastric cancer and MALT lymphoma. Helicobacter pylori can be viewed as a true pathogen. Helicobacter pylori was identified in 1983, but we are still in dark about many aspects of the organism itself, its transmission, how it causes disease, and how we should clinically managing this infection. In spite of the large number of studies in this field there are still unexplained questions.
