The Comparison of Growt Performance and Carcass Yields of Broiller Under Convencionel and Organic Condition
Abstract
This study was conducted to compare growth performance and carcass characters of broiler reared at conventional and organic principles condition. To achieve this goal, 3 day old 180 broiler chicks were divided into 6 groups with 3 replicates, randomly; the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth groups were conventional control(CC), organic control (OC), organic pasture+organic feed (OP), organic pasture + 80% organic feed (OP1), organic pasture + 70% organic feed (OP2), organic pasture + 50% organic feed (OP3), respectively. During the experiment feed consumption and live weights were determined weekly. Animals were bleed at the end of 6 and 10 weeks of the trail to evaluate carcass feature. The live weights of Conventional groups at the end of 6 weeks were 2501.8, 2112.8 and 235.4 g for male, female and male+female, respectively. The live weights of OC, OP, Op1, OP2 and OP3 at the end of 10 weeks of age were 1935.4, 3028.6, 2656.6, 2876.7 ve 2789.6 g, respectively. It was seen that the average live weight of OC groups at the 10 weeks of age were lower than CC groups at the end of 6 weeks. However, The live weights of OP and OP2 groups were higher than CC groups. As a result, It could be said that feding the broiler by organic material in pens is not suitable, however, organic feeding+pasturing has to be practiced because of it?s advantages. Besides, 50 and 70 % organic feed +pasturing have positive effects on growth performance and carcass characters of the broiler.Key words: Organic Broiler, Organic Production
