Risk Perception of People Living in Turkey

Abstract

Bu çalıĢma, toplumumuzda yaĢan insanların risk algılarını ölçebilmek için açık uçlu ve kapalı uçlu sorulardan oluĢan anket çalıĢması yapılmıĢtır. AraĢtırmada 5 ayrı ilde (Ġstanbul, Aydın, Van, Malatya ve Ġzmir) yaĢayan insanlar üzerinde anket çalıĢması yapılmıĢ olup, hazırlanan sorularda insanlarımızın ĠĢ Sağlığı ve Güvenliği hakkında bilgileri olup, olmadığı irdelenip, risk algıları, farkındalıkları gözlemlenmeye çalıĢılmıĢtır. 5 sorudan oluĢan ankette her bir sorudan ayrı bir gözlem yapılmaya çalışılmıştır. Ankete katılan katılımcıların farklı kesimlerde farklı mesleklerde ve farklı yaş aralıklarında olmasına özen gösterilmiştir. Özel bilgilerinin çok irdelenmeden hiçbir etki altında kalmadan rahatlıkla görüşlerini sunabilecekleri bir alan oluşmuştur. Anket sonucunda değerlendirmeler yapılarak genel olarak toplumumuzda yaşayan insanların risk algıları ölçülmeye çalışıldı. Çalışma sonrasında Türkiye'de yaşayan insanların risk algılarının yeterince gelişmediği, üzerinde detaylı durulması gerektiği tespiti yapılmıştır. Risk algısının yaşam boyunca hayatımızı olumlu veya olumsuz etkileyen önemli ve temel bir kavram olduğu ve bu temel üzerinde yeterli çalışmalarla daha kaliteli ve güvenli ortamlar oluşabileceği görülmüştür.

In this study, a survey consisting of open-ended and closed-ended questions was conducted to measure the risk perceptions of people living in our society. In the research, a survey was conducted on people living in 5 different provinces (Istanbul, Aydın, Van, Malatya and Izmir), and in the prepared questions, it was examined whether our people had knowledge about Occupational Health and Safety and their risk perceptions and awareness were tried to be observed. In the survey consisting of 5 questions, a separate observation was tried to be made from each question. Care was taken to ensure that the participants in the survey were from different segments, different professions and different age ranges. A space has been created where they can easily present their opinions without being influenced by their private information being scrutinized too much. Evaluations were made as a result of the survey and an attempt was made to measure the risk perceptions of people living in our society in general After the study, it was determined that the risk perceptions of people living in Turkey are not sufficiently developed and should be studied in detail. It has been seen that risk perception is an important and fundamental concept that affects our lives positively or negatively throughout life, and that better quality and safer environments can be created with sufficient work on this basis.
