The Determination of Concept Errors Concerning Chemical Relations (Kimyasal Bağlar) and Correction of These Errors
Abstract
Araştırmanın amacı; Kimyasal Bağlar konusunda öğrencilerin öğrenmede yaşadıkları güçlükler ve kavram yanılgılarının tespit edilmesi, bunların giderilmesi için ihtiyaç duyulan öğretme yöntem ve tekniklerinin belirlenmesi ve öğrenci seviyelerine uygun materyalleri geliştirerek uygulamaktır.Bu araştırmada, öğrencilerin, konuyla ilgili hedeflenen davranışları ne ölçüde kazandıkları araştırılarak, olası kavram yanılgılarını tespit etmek için başarı testleri geliştirilmiştir. Geliştirilen testlerin geçerlilik ve güvenirlilik çalışması yapılmıştır. Van il merkezindeki, 2006-2007 Eğitim Öğretim yılında Cumhuriyet Lisesi, Milli Piyango Anadolu Lisesi, 2007-2008 Eğitim Öğretim yılında Cumhuriyet Lisesi, Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi, Van Anadolu Öğretmen Lisesi ve Milli Piyango Anadolu Lisesinde bulunan fen sınıflarında 250 öğrenciye konular anlatılmadan önce otuz sorudan oluşan ön test uygulanmıştır. Uygulanan öntest sonuçları ve sınıfların önceki yıllardaki başarıları da göz önünde bulundurularak, 125 kişilik deney ve 125 kontrol grupları oluşturulmuştur. Kontrol grubuna düz anlatım ve soru-cevap yöntemi kullanılarak konular anlatılmıştır. Deney grubunda ise, önceden hazırlanan bilgisayar destekli sunumlar, üç boyutlu materyaller, kavram haritaları, kavram ağları, anlam çözümleme tabloları kullanılmış ve deneylerle desteklenmiş biçimde ders anlatımı yapılmıştır. Deney ve kontrol gruplarına konu anlatımının bitimlerinde konuyla ilgili 30 soruluk son test uygulanarak sonuçlar çıkartılmıştır.Araştırmanın sonucuna göre, kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin not ortalamasının 40,10 deney grubu öğrencilerinin not ortalamasının ise 65,47 olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Aradaki farkın deney grubu lehine anlamlı olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Elde edilen bu bulgulara göre, deney grubu öğrencilerinin, uygulanan çalışma ile konuları daha iyi kavrayabildikleri ve konu hâkimiyetlerinin oluşturulduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Kimya eğitimi, İyonik bağ, Kovalent bağlar, Bağ açıları, Hibritleşme, Metalik bağ, Dipol-dipol bağ, Hidrojen bağı, Kavram, Kavram yanılgıları.
The objectives of the research are to determine the difficulties the students have while learning the subject ?chemical relations? and the concept errors they make; and to determine the teaching methods and techniques needed in order to correct these errors; to improve and apply the materials suitable for the students? levels.In this research, achievement tests have been developed in order to determine the possible concept errors after it is investigated to what degree the students acquire the behaviours aimed. The validity and the reliability of the tests developed have been checked. An entry test including 30 questions was applied to 250 students of science classes of Cumhuriyet High School and Milli Piyango Anatolian High School in Van in 2006-2007 Academic Year, and it was applied to 250 students of science classes of Cumhuriyet High School, Atatürk Anatolian High School, Van Anadolu Öğretmen High School and Milli Piyango Anatolian High School in 2007-2008 Academic Year without the subjects being explained. Taking the results of the entry test applied and the students? success of the last years into account, experiment and control groups each including 125 students have been formed. While the subjects are being explained to control group, the ?explanation? method and ?Question-Answer? method have been used. And while the subjects are being explained to experiment group, computer-based presentations prepared before, three dimensional materials, concept maps, concept webs, meaning analysis tables have been used and the subjects have been covered by being supported with experiments. After the subjects are explained to experiment and control groups, a final test concerning the subjects covered and including 30 questions has been applied to experiment and control groups and the results of this final test have been obtained.According to the result of the research, it is indicated that the grade points average of the students of control group is 53.77 and the grade points average of the students of experiment group is 71.27. The gap between the grade points shows that the experiment group is advantageous.
