Population Development of Acanthiophilus Helianthi Rossi (diptera: Tephritidae)) on Different Safflower (carthamus Tinctorius L.) Varieties in Van and Determination of Population Parameters in Laboratory Conditions
Abstract
Acanthiophilus helianthi, also known as the capsule or safflower fly, is an oligophagous species that causes significant damage to safflower plants. Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) plant, which is among its hosts, is an important energy plant, whose cultivation has increased in recent years in our country, resistant to drought and has high adaptability. In this study, the population development of A. helianthi on 5 different varieties of the plant, which has been started to be produced in the province of Van, which has a very suitable climate and soil structure for safflower, and some biological parameters in laboratory conditions were investigated. According to the results obtained, it was observed that A. helianthi preferred the Asol variety the most and the Göktürk variety the least. It was determined that all 5 cultivars gave important physiological and morphological responses under the stress conditions caused by the development of the pest. Among the identified parasitoid, Ormyrus orientalis, Bracon sp., Eurytoma acroptilae and Microdontomerus annulatus were found to be important parasitoids of A. helianthi.
