The Place of Metaphor in Mevlânâ’s Mesnevî

Abstract

?Mevlânâ'nın Mesnevî'sinde Metaforun Yeri? isimli çalışmamızda, Metafor kavramının Mevlânâ'nın eserlerindeki işlevi araştırılacaktır. Bu çalışmada Mevlânâ'nın akıl anlayışını ve insana bağlı olarak bilgi anlayışını öncelikle ortaya koyduk. Daha sonra metafor kavramının genel kontekstini inceledik. Metaforun Mevlânâ düşüncesindeki önemini ve onun eserlerindeki metafor örneklerini sergiledik. Mevlânâ'nın eserlerindeki retorik onu özgün kılan yönlerden biridir. Bir diğer yön ise irfani/gnostik bilgiyi bu eserlerinde zengin formlarda savunması ve bunları ahlaki öğütler biçiminde sunmasıdır. Çalışmamız boyunca Mevlânâ'nın bu felsefi ve entelektüel boyutu da ortaya konulmuştur.Mevlânâ'da metafor kullanırken, metafor kullanımın esas amacı olan anlaşılır olmayı amaçlamış ve daha geniş kitlelere hitap etmeyi umut etmiştir. Bu düşüncemizi onun eserlerinden özellikle Mesnevî'den yararlanmak suretiyle özetlemeye gayret ettik.Anahtar Kelimeler: Mevlânâ, Mesnevî, Metafor, Akıl, Aşk

In this study, ?The Place of Metaphor in Mevlânâ?s Mesnevi?, function of ?metaphor? in Mevlânâ?s literary work will be investigated. First of all, we introduced concept of reason and and concept of knowledge which is depending on human. Then, we made a study on general context of metaphor concept. We displayed the importance of metaphor concept in Mevlânâ?s literary works and peresented some examples of metaphor. Sermocination in Mevlânâ?s works is one of the aspects that makes them original. Another aspect is the fact that Mevlânâ asserts gnostic information in extensive forms and presents it as moral counsels. Throughout our study, Mevlânâ?s this philosophical and intellectual extent is also put forth for consideration.Mevlânâ intented to be apparent, as the main objective of metaphors, and expected to address large masses when using metaphors. We endeavored to summarize this idea by making use of his literary works, especially Mesnevî.Key Words: Mevlânâ, Mesnevî, Metaphor, Reason, Love
