Woman in Safi̇ye Erol's Stories and Novels

Abstract

Bu çalışmada 1927'den itibaren edebiyat dünyasında yerini alan Safiye Erol'un (1902-1964) hikaye ve romanlarındaki kadın teması üzerinde durulmuştur. Erol, 1927 ile 1964 yılları arasında dört roman ve altı hikâye yazmıştır. Yazar, 37 yıllık yazı hayatında roman ve hikâye türü dışında eserler de kaleme almıştır. Ancak çalışmamız kapsamında sadece bu iki tür incelenmiştir. Yazarın eserlerinde doğu- batı sentezi ve tasavvuf görülmüştür. Eserlerini sanat kaygısı yapmadan oluşturmuştur. Roman kişileri sınırlıdır ve genellikle ekonomik durumu iyi olan bireylerin ruhsal yolculuğunu işlemiştir. Bundaki amaç okuru asıl noktaya bağlamak, ekonomik sıkıntılarla konuyu dağıtmamaktır. Erol'un kadın kahramanları manevi anlamda derinleşen ve derinliği olmayan roman kahramanları olarak ele aldığı görülür. Bu nedenle kadın kahramanlar çok çeşitlilik göstermez.

In this study, Safiye Erol (1902-1964), who took place in the literature world since 1927, focused on the theme of women in her stories and novels. Erol, wrote four novels and six stories between 1927 and 1964. In his 37 years of writing, the author has also written novels and short stories. However, only these two species were examined within the scope of our study. East-west synthesis and mysticism were seen in the author's works. He created his works without worrying about art. Characters of her novels are narrow and she mostly written about spiritual journeys of people who has good economic status. The purpose of doing this is connecting the reader to the original point, and not to distruct the point with economical problems. It is seen that Erol treats female protagonists as novel heroes who are deeply spiritual and have no depth. Therefore, female heroes do not show much diversity.
