Abstract
Root resorption in teeth; It is a clinical process that causes destruction of the dentin, cementum and sometimes alveolar bone structure in the dental tissue resulting from physiological, pathological or idiopathic causes. Accurate and early diagnosis of resorption is critical for successful treatment. In this study, the ability of three different cone-beam computed tomography devices to measure root resorption size using different parameters was compared. 42 external resorption defects were used in the study. The volume measurements of the defects were performed in 6 different scanning protocols on three different cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) devices. Then, these volume values were compared with the micro-computed tomography volume values, which were accepted as the real volume. As a result of the comparison, there was no significant difference between the calculated volumes and the actual volume in 6 different imaging protocols (p≥0.05). According to the results obtained, parameters corresponding to the lowest dose in CBCT scans can be used for size assessment of external root resorption.
