Abstract

Climate change, a multi-component phenomenon, affects the biodiversity at all levels from the organisms to biomes. Climate change components could be listed as; temperature, rainfall, extreme events, CO2 concentration, Ocean / Sea dynamics. Sea-water temperatures and sea level changes in the world and Mediterranean scale, at local scale, the temperature and precipitation data related to the area, CORINE Land Cover data, Normalied Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) products, have been investigated for the potential use to determine the possible effects of climate change on the Datca - Bozburun SPA by using endangered flora and fauna species observation data. Results of the study showed that evaluated spatial data and spatial decision support tools have huge potential to construct specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely strategies to preserve the SPA's from the negative effects of the climate change.
