dc.description.abstract Environmental pollution threatens the ecosystem and people more and more every day. This situation is also valid for Lake Van. For this reason, the alterations in the levels of some metals were studied according to gender and weight in Van fish (Alburnus Tarichi, Giildenstadt 1814). In the study, beryllium (Be), bismuth (Bi), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), selenium (Se), nickel (Ni) and manganese (Mn) elements in the tissues of muscles, liver, gills, gonads and brain of Van fish were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES). The results were evaluated as toxic elements and trace elements. Highly toxic Be, Bi, Pb and Cd elements were found in the tissues of Van fish. Especially in the brain tissues, their concentrations were observed to be higher. Ni metal's tissue concentration in the brain was found to be higher than the other tissues. In the study, the metal concentrations in the male fish were found to be higher than the female fish (p<0.05). According to their weights, the levels were found to be higher in the 80>Weight group and 80-100 Weight group, and lower in the 100<Weight group (P<0.05). en_US
