Historical Mardin House Main Rooms Tradition

Abstract

Mardin, Güney Anadolu ile Kuzey Mezopotamya'nın kesiştiği bir bölgede yer almaktadır. İpekyolu'nun önemli güzergâhlarından biri olması sebebi ile erken dönemlerden itibaren önemli yerleşim alanları arasında yer almıştır. Yerleşim kültürünün özgün taş malzeme ile kendine has özellikleriyle korunduğu şehirde mimari geleneğin gelişim sürecinin takip edilebildiği alanlardan biri de Tarihi Mardin Evleri olmuştur. Tarihi Mardin Evlerinin Başoda Geleneği'nin araştırıldığı bu çalışmada, tarihi Mardin evlerinin tasarım süreçleri, plan özellikleri ile yaşam birimleri arasında önemli görülen Başoda geleneğinin plan, malzeme ve süsleme özellikleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmada Tarihi Mardin Evlerinin Başoda geleneğini yansıtan yapıların tespit edilmesi, incelenmesi, mevcut durumlarının belirlenmesi, korunması ve tanıtılması üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu amaç ile yapılan çalışmalar neticesinde incelenmek üzere Mardin İli merkez Artuklu ilçesinde 15 ev seçilmiştir. Bu evlerin seçiminde esas olarak Başoda geleneğini yansıtan unsurlar ölçüt olarak kabul edilmiştir. Evler şehrin farklı mahallelerinden tüm özellikleri ile ele alınarak araştırmaya dâhil edilmiştir. İncelenen evler arasına farklı dönemlerde çeşitli amaçlar ile ve halen kullanılan evler de dâhil edilmiştir. Araştırmaya dâhil edilen evler; plan anlayışı, malzeme-teknik ile süsleme bakımından kendi içlerinde değerlendirilmiştir.Mardin is located at the intersection of Southern Anatolia and Northern Mesopotamia. Since it is one of the important routes of the Silk Road, it has been among the important settlement areas since the ancient times. In Mardin where the settlement culture is protected with unique stone materials and unique features, one of the areas where the development process of the architectural tradition can be followed has been the Historic Mardin Houses. In this study which historical Mardin main rooms has been researched, the design processes of the historical Mardin houses, the plan characteristics, material and decoration features of the main room tradition, which are considered important among the living units, were examined. In this study, it is emphasized to identify, investigate, preserve and present the structures reflecting the main room plan tradition of historical Mardin houses. As a result of these studies, 15 houses were selected in the Artuklu district of Mardin. In the selection of these houses, the elements reflecting the main room tradition were accepted as main criteria. Houses from different neighborhoods of the city with all the features are included in the research. The houses that were used for various purposes in different periods of time were also included in the investigated houses. The houses included in the research; The concept of plan, material-technique and ornamentation were evaluated within themselves.
