Analysis of the School Maturity Levels of the Primary School First Grade Students in Terms of Various Variables With 12-Year Compulsory Education System Abstract

Abstract

Araştırmanın amacı 2012- 2013 eğitim öğretim yılında uygulanmaya başlanan, 12 Yıllık Zorunlu Eğitim Sistemi ile Birlikte ilkokula başlayan 5 ve 6 yaşındaki öğrencilerin okul olgunluk düzeylerini, yaş, cinsiyet, sosyoekonomik durum ve anne-baba eğitim seviyesi açısından karşılaştırmaktır. Araştırmanın evrenini 2014-2015 eğitim öğretim yılında Ardahan merkezde okuyan ilkokul 1. sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Örneklem grubunu ise, 5 devlet okulu ile 1 özel okulda okumakta olan 222 ilkokul 1. sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Öğrencilerin 85'i 5 yaş grubu öğrencileri, 137'si 6 yaş grubu öğrencilerinden oluşmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak ''Metropolitan Okul Olgunluk Testi'' ve ''Kişisel Bilgi Formu'' kullanılmıştır. Metropolitan Okul Olgunluk Testi, öğrencilere araştırmacılar tarafından bireysel olarak uygulanmıştır. Her bir öğrenciyle yapılan uygulama ortalama 15 dakika sürmüştür. ''Kişisel Bilgi Formu'', ise aileler tarafından doldurulmuştur. Araştırma sonunda; yaşın, cinsiyetin, sosyoekonomik durumun ve anne babanın eğitim seviyesinin okul olgunluğu üzerinde anlamlı bir fark yarattığı görülmüştür.

The aim of the research is to compare the school maturity levels of 5 and 6 years old students who started primary school with the 12-year Compulsory Education System in 2012-2013 in terms of socio economic status, age, parental education level and gender. The consist of the research the first grade primary school students studying in the city centre of Ardahan in 2014-2015 academic year. The sample was selected from primary school 1st grade students studying in 5 public and 1 private schools. The sample consisted of 222 students. While 85 of the students were 5-year-old students, 137 of them were 6-year-old students. Metropolitan School Maturity Test and personal information form were used as data collection tools. Metropolitan School Maturity Test was applied to students individually by researchers. The practice with each student lasted approximately 15 minutes. The personal information form was completed by their families. At the end of the research; socio economic status, education level of mother and father and age and gender had an effect on school maturity.
