Abstract
This study was carried out in the experimental area of GAP International Agricultural Research and Training Center between 2019-2020 in order to determine the effects of some annual forage legume grown as winter catch crop on yield and quality factors in silage corn production in Diyarbakır conditions. The research was established according to the randomized blocks experimental design with 3 replications, Gap Pink of field pea (Pisum arvanse L.), Gap Blue of grasspea (Lathyrus sativus L.) and Gorkem varieties of common vetch (Vicia sativa L.) as winter catch crop, ADA 523 variety of corn was used as the main crop. According to the results obtained in the study, the highest green grass yield was measured in field peas with 2842 kg/da and the highest dry matter yield was measured in common vetch with 657 kg/da among forage legume crops grown as winter catch crop. The effects of forage legumes crops on the investigated properties of the main corn crop showed statistical differences. While the effect on plant height, chlorophyll amount and stem diameter was significant at the level of 1%, the effect on crude protein ratio and crude protein, green grass and dry matter yield was significant at the level of 5%. The effect on the leaf, stem and ear ratio of the plant was insignificant. The highest green grass yield with 7960 kg/da and dry matter yields with 2706 kg/da were obtained from corn after the grasspea. In the study, it was concluded that different forage legumes planted before corn had significant effects on yield and quality factors in corn.
