Abstract
In this study, the effect of application of sewage sludge at a fixed ratio and zinc and cadium in variable doses, on growth of lettuce plant and the activity of some emzymes (superoxide dismutase, glutathion ? S- transferase, glutathion peroxidase, and glutathion redutase) was studied. The experiment was conducted under growth chamber conditions in Yüzüncü yıl University, Agriculture Faculty according to completely ranalomized design in four replications. In the study at a fixed ratio, % 10 sewage sludge and in variable doses zinc (250?500 ppm) and cadium (50?100 ppm) were applied to the pot.According to the study results, only Cd treatment inhibited plant growth while Zn treatment increased the growth. Besides, when zinc was applied with cadium, it decreased cadium toxicity. As enzyme activity, SOD activity diminished in shoots with Cd treatment, while increased with Zn treatment and in roots diminished with Cd treatment. GST activity didn?t show any significant changes in shoots while it had rises related to the treatmant in root. GPX enzyme increased in root and shoot according to Zn and Cd doses. However, GR enzyme diminished in shoot with Cd and Zn treatmetst, but in root it increased wiht Cd doses.
