Abstract
The remote working method, which is an important type of flexible working, has started to come to the fore more especially in 2019 with the COVID-19 pandemic, which is effective around the world. The job satisfaction of employees with the remote working method, which has started to be effective in working life, has also been the subject of research in the literature. For this reason, this study is important to reveal the relationship between remote work and job satisfaction. In this study, data were collected from five different occupational groups, including academics, bankers, teachers, call center workers and software engineers working within the scope of remote work, by survey method. In the study, a twenty-question short version of the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Inventory was used. Data obtained from 546 participants were analyzed with SPSS package 23 program, T-Test, ANOVA and correlation tests. According to the results obtained in the study, in the ANOVA test, a statistically significant difference was obtained between the job satisfaction scores of the academicians and participants in other occupational groups (p<.05) and the academics' satisfaction levels in remote working were higher. It has been determined that the occupational group with the lowest level of satisfaction in remote work is teachers. According to the T-Test analysis made according to the gender status of the participants, there was no significant relationship between the satisfaction levels of the participants in remote work. However, a significant difference was found according to the marital status of the participants, and it was determined that the satisfaction level of the single participants in remote work was higher than the married participants. According to the ANOVA test conducted according to the age and child status of the participants, the satisfaction levels of the participants with three or more children in remote work are lower. Pearson correlation method was used to compare the satisfaction levels obtained from working remotely and working in the workplace environment. Accordingly, the relationship between job satisfaction scores in the workplace environment and remote work was found to be statistically significant (p<.05). In other words, it has been determined that the satisfaction level of the participants in remote work is higher than the level of satisfaction they get in the workplace environment.
