Radiological Determination of Closure Times of Growth Plates Belonging To the Antebrachism in Puppies

Abstract

ı.öz Bu çalışmada, 31 erkek, 24 dişi olmak üzere 55 Kangal köpek yavrusunda, değişik zamanlarda çekilmiş 125 röntgen filmi değerlendirilerek, antebrachium'a ait büyüme plaklarının kapanma süreleri izlendi. Röntgen çekimlerinden sonra hayvanın yaşı, cinsiyeti, ağırlığı ve radius-ulna uzunlukları ölçüldü. Radyolojik değerlendirmeler sonucu; proksimal ulnar büyüme plağının ort 8.1 ayda, antebrachium'un diğer üç büyüme plağının da ort 1 1 ayda kapandığı saptandı. Canlı ağırlık ve radius-ulna uzunluğu yaşı belirlemede etkin bir kriter olarak görülmedi. Ancak cinsiyetin, büyüme plaklarının kapanmasında etkili olabileceği sonucuna varıldı. ABSTRACT In this study, closure times of the growth plates belonging to the antebrachium were monitored by assessing 125 x-ray films taken at different times in 55 Kangal puppies, of which 3 1 were male and 24 were female. Following the x-ray films, the age, gender, weight and radius-ulna length was recorded. As a result of radiological evaluation, it was determined that the proximal ulnar growth plate closed in a mean of 8.1 months and that the remaining 3 growth plates of the antebrachium closed in a mean of 1 1 months. Body weight and radius-ulna length were not found to be effective criteria in determining the age. However, it was decided that gender may be effective in the closure of the growth plates.
