Abstract
Divan poet of the 18th century, Ihya Sharif Yahya whose name is mentioned almost in all period of the biographical dictionaries is a personality whose relationships with the statesmen are powerful as well as being a member of the class of the science. Presenting the odes to the sultan and grand viziers of his period that he lived, Ihya has written the histories for the performed reconstruction activities and the political achievements; with his lyrics, the number of which reached 280, he has carried the everyday life and the local characteristics of the 18th century of Ottoman society to his Divan. It has been seen that the proverbs and idioms, the public language, many customs and belief were lively processed in Ihya Divan, reflecting also the social life, cultural, artistic and historical values as well as the poetry tradition of the era. Giving often place to the terms of the food and drink, clothing and the culture of entertainment is another issue, drawing attention in this direction. Harboring together with the traces of ?Sebk-i Hindî? and Philosophical Manner (Hikemî Tarz) which were the two effective movements of those years, it can be said that the Regional Movement (Mahallî Cereyân) was especially determinative in the formation the poems of Ihyâ.
