The Comprehension Levels of Some of the Chemistry Concepts at the High Schools in Siirt

Abstract

Bu çalısmada Siirt'te bulunan genel liselerin tüm sınıflarında ve meslek liselerinin birinci sınıf ögrencilerinde, kimya dersi ögretiminde anlamada güçlük çekilen bazı kavramlar tespit etmeyi ve bunların nedenlerini arastırmayı amaç edinilmistir. Arastırmada 23 soru içeren anket uygulaması yapıldı. Ankette sorulan sorular çoktan seçmeli ve genel olarak su kavramları içermektedir: Fiziksel-kimyasal degisme, atom ve yapısı, kaynama-buharlasma, çözünmeçözünürlük, mol kavramı, bilesik tanıma ve metal ametaller. Anket, Anadolu Ögretmen Lisesi, normal lise, lise mezunu dershane ögrencilerine ve meslek liselerinin birinci sınıf ögrencilerine uygulandı. Genelde denek olarak II ve III. sınıf ögrencileri seçildi. Anket sonuçları ve kavramları anlam yüzdeleri söyledir: 1. Metal-ametal : 40 2. Çözünen-çözücü:30 3. Çözelti : 40 4. Gazlar : 50 5. Atomun Yapısı : 65 6. Bilesikler : 60 Çalısma sonunda ögrencilerin büyük bir kısmı bu kavramların anlamlarını karıstırdıkları veya bilmedikleri görülmüstür. Bunun nedenleri de laboratuar imkanlarının olmaması, az örnek gösterme, kavramların güncellestirilmemesi ve model kullanmamaya baglanabilir. This Study almed and fixing some concepts that are understood difficultly in chemistry education, by students in all the classes of general high schools and the first classes of trainning colleges in Siirt and investigating the reasons bekind. Within the study a guastionnaire including 23 questions was appliet The questions in the guestionnairy have multi answers and generally include these concepts: concept of mol, the study of compounds, metals and non metals. The questionnaire was applied to students in anatolian high scholl, normal high scholl, to high school graduates atteudinf courses and fist class students of training high schools. Generally students of second and third classes were chosen as test subject. The results of the questionnaire and the percentage of comprehension are as follows : 1. metal-non metal : 40 2. Solute-Solwing : 30 3. Solutin : 40 4. Gas : 50 5. Atomic structure :65 6. Compounds : 60 At the result of this study it was concluded that the great amount of students either mixed up all of the concepts or didn?t know them all. As reason for this lack of laboratuary means, showing less examles, lack of the actualization of the concepts and not using a model can be shown.
