Effects of Socio-Economic Factors on Drug Addicts: a Study on Drug Addicts

Abstract

Dünyada olduğu gibi ülkemizde de kullanım sıklığı giderek artan madde bağımlılığı özellikle gençler arasında büyük bir sorun teşkil etmektedir. Madde bağımlılığın birlikte getirdiği problemleri tek bir boyutta ele alamayacak kadar çok boyutlu bir sorundur. Türkiye'de yetişkin bireyler için AMATEM (alkol madde tedavi merkezi) madde bağımlılarına hizmet vermektedir. Tedavide ayaktan veya yatarak tedavi planlanır ve yapılan tedavi süreci birey odaklı olmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı sosyo-ekonomik faktörlerin madde bağımlıları üzerinde ki etkilerini detaylı görebilmek. Çalışmada madde bağımlısı olmanın sebepleri araştırılıp detaylı olarak sosyo-ekonomik faktörler üzerinde durulmuştur. Araştırmanın temel veri kaynağı madde bağımlıları oluşturmaktadır. Bağımlılığın en önemli sebeplerinden biri olan sosyo-ekonomik faktör maddeye başlama konusunda ne kadar etken olduğu araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla AMATEM biriminde yatan ve ayaktan tedavi gören bağımlılara anket uygulanarak istatiksel veriler elde edilmiştir. Sosyo-ekonomik faktörlerin madde bağımlıları üzerindeki etkileri çalışma 3 ayrı bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde bağımlılığın kavramsal çerçevesi oluşturulurken ikinci bölümdeyse, sosyo-ekonomik faktörler ile alakalı bilgiler verilmiştir. Üçün son kısımda ise literatür taramasıyla birlikte anket verilerin sonuçları görülmektedir.

Substance addiction, both globally and in our country, has become an increasingly prevalent issue, particularly among the youth. The problems associated with substance addiction are multidimensional and cannot be addressed in a single dimension. In Turkey, AMATEM (Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment Center) provides services to adult individuals struggling with substance addiction. The treatment approaches include outpatient and inpatient options, and the treatment process is individual-focused. The purpose of this research is to comprehensively examine the impact of socio-economic factors on individuals with substance addiction. The study investigates the reasons for substance addiction and delves into socio-economic factors in detail. The primary data source for the research consists of individuals with substance addiction. The study explores how socio-economic factors, a significant cause of addiction, influence the initiation of substance use. To achieve this goal, surveys were administered to individuals undergoing both inpatient and outpatient treatment at the AMATEM unit, and statistical data were collected. The effects of socio-economic factors on individuals with substance addiction are presented in three distinct sections. The first section establishes the conceptual framework of addiction, while the second section provides information related to socio-economic factors. The third and final section presents the results of the survey data along with a literature review. This research aims to contribute to the understanding of the intricate relationship between substance addiction and socio-economic factors, providing valuable insights for addressing this complex issue.
