Evaluation of Ethics Perceptions of Primary School Teachers

Abstract

Bu çalışmada ilköğretim sınıf öğretmenlerinin etik görüşleri değerlendirilmiştir. Değerlendirme, öğretmenlerin etik ve ahlak kavramlarının bilgisine sahip olma düzeylerini, erdem kavramı üzerine görüşlerini, öğrenciye yönelik model olduklarının ne derece farkında olduklarını, değer aktarma ile ilgili görüşlerini, meslek etiği ve öğretmenlik meslek etiği kodlarının bilgisine sahip olma düzeylerini içermektedir.Nitel araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı bu araştırmada olgubilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evren ve örneklemini Van İlinde bulunun ilköğretim sınıf öğretmenleri oluşturmuştur. Bu amaçla ilde bulunan sınıf öğretmenlerinden araştırmanın ilk dört alt amacı için 15 kişilik öğretmen grubu ve beşinci alt amaç için de 60 kişilik bir öğretmen grubu oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmada yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ve yazılı görüş formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, nitel araştırma veri analiz yöntemlerinden betimsel ve içerik analizi yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir.Yapılan analizler ve elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda, öğretmenlerin etik kavramının bilgisine sahip olmadıkları, etiği ahlak kavramı olarak ifade ettikleri ve iki kavram arasındaki farkı ifade edemedikleri, erdem kavramının bilgisinden ziyade erdemli bireye ait özellikleri ifade ettikleri, model olma ile ilgili bir bilince sahip oldukları fakat model olmanın referansının ne olması gerektiği konusunda karmaşa yaşadıkları, öğretmenlerin değer aktarma rolü ile ilgili bir bilince sahip oldukları, toplumda farklı aile yapıları bulunduğundan dini değerlerin aktarımının aile ve okul arasında bir çatışma doğurabileceği dolayısıyla değer aktarımında evrensel değerlere öncelik verilmesi gerektiği, okulun değer aktaran bir role sahip olması gerektiği sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca meslek etiği ile ilgili olarak bazı kavramları kullandıkları fakat net bir bilgiye sahip olmadıkları, meslek etiği kodlarının bilgisine sahip olmadıkları sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler:Eğitim, Etik, Felsefe, Eğitim Felsefesi, Etik Görüş, Öğretmen, İlköğretim.In this study, ethical opinions of primary classroom teachers are evaluated. The assessments include: the ownership levels of teachers? on knowledge of ethics and moral concepts, their views on the concept of virtue, to what extend their awareness of being model towards students, their views on teaching values, the levels of their having knowledge of professional ethics and the teaching profession code of ethics.Qualitative research method used in this research design was used scientific facts. The population and sample of the study are created by primary classroom teachers located in Van province. From that area, 15 classroom teachers for the first four sub-goal and 60 classroom teachers for the fifth sub-goal are formed for the research. Semi- structured interview form and written survey form are used in the research. The obtained data is analyzed with descriptive and content analysis method from the data analysis techniques of the qualitative research.In the line of analysis and findings , teachers? not having the knowledge of concept of ethics, their expressing the ethics as concept of morality and their not able to express the difference between two concepts, their explaining the features of individuals who are virtuous rather than knowledge of virtue concept, their having consciousness related to being a model teacher but their confusion about the references of what is supposed to be in the terms of being a model, cause of different family types existing in the society , a possibility of conflict between the school and the family in terms of transferring the religious values so the necessity of giving priority to universal virtues in transferring the values, the necessity of school?s having a role in value transferring are resulted in the research. In addition, It is resulted in teachers? using the some concepts related to the professional ethics but not having a certain knowledge and their not having the knowledge of the codes of professional ethics .Key Words: Education, Ethic, Philosophy, Philosophy of Education, Views on Ethics, Teacher , Primary school.
