Removal of Dyestuff From Aqueous Solution by Raw Clay and Commercial Clay
Abstract
Aim of this study is to realize threat of dyestuff, which have started to become a major danger depending on industrial development, especially to investigate methods for removal of dyestuff from aqueous solution, effect field of which is very large. Clays are used for removal of dyestuff and heavy metals as adsorbent. Cheapness and obtainability of this adsorbent make these adsorbents economically attractive. Thus we used two types of adsorbents in this study. In this study, adsorption capacities of methylene blue is the dyestuff on the natural clay from Derik district of Mardin province and on the commercial clay were investigated. Influences of temperature, concentration, pH and amount of adsorbent on adsorption capacities were investigated experimentally. The data were obtained from conclusion were analyzed using Freundlich isotherm, Langmuir isotherm, scatchard equation, pseudo first order and pseudo second order reaction kinetics and thermodynamic parameters. Constants of these equations were found and it was determined that they were conforming. In conclusion, it was observed that the isotherm studies fitted with Freundlich isotherm, and in kinetic studies, the raw clay fitted with pseudo first order, while the commercial clay fitted with pseudo second order kinetic equations.
