Arrangement of Recreational Camping Areas; Example of Coastal Camping Areas in Lake Van Basin (Turkiye)

Abstract

It is important to examine the camping areas at the point where the human-city, urbanrural areas relationship is established, and to include mandatory landscape elements, design and meet general architectural criteria. In the study, evaluation analyses were made of 14 known natural recreational camping areas in the coastal areas of the Lake Van Basin, which is one of the important open natural recreational areas in Turkiye. 23 evaluation criteria were selected for landscape character determination and criterion weight values were calculated using AHP, and by applying the TOPSIS method using these weight values, the most suitable recreational camping area for camping among 14 areas was determined as the pilot area. Solution suggestions and sample designs that can rehabilitate this camping area have been created, aiming to be an example for other camping areas and a basis for scientific studies. © 2024, Scibulcom Ltd.
