The Effect of Adding Dexamethasone To Bupivacaine on Postoperative Analgesic Consumption in Superficial Cervical Plexus Block During Tympanoplasty Surgery

Abstract

Bu çalışma, timpanoplasti cerrahisi sırasında yüzeyel servikal pleksus bloğunda bupivakain'e deksametazon eklenmesinin postoperatif analjezi tüketimi üzerindeki etkilerini değerlendirmektedir. Timpanoplasti cerrahisi, timpanik membranın onarılması ve işitme düzeyinin iyileştirilmesi amacıyla yaygın olarak uygulanan bir kulak burun boğaz (KBB) cerrahisidir. Cerrahi sırasında ve sonrasında ağrı yönetimi, hasta konforunun sağlanması ve komplikasyonların önlenmesi açısından kritik bir öneme sahiptir. Çalışmamızda, bupivakain ile kombine edilen deksametazonun yüzeyel servikal pleksus bloğu ile sağlanan analjezi üzerindeki etkinliği araştırıldı. Araştırmada, intraoperatif opioid tüketimi, postoperatif ağrı yönetimi, bulantı ve kusma gibi semptomların azaltılması ve hasta memnuniyeti gibi parametreler incelenmiştir. Sonuçlar, deksametazonun bupivakain ile birlikte kullanıldığında postoperatif analjezi ihtiyacını önemli ölçüde azalttığını ve hastaların genel memnuniyetini artırdığını göstermektedir.

This study aims to evaluate the effects of adding dexamethasone to bupivacaine during the application of a superficial cervical plexus block in tympanoplasty surgery on postoperative analgesic consumption. Tympanoplasty surgery is a common procedure in otorhinolaryngology aimed at repairing the tympanic membrane and improving hearing levels. Effective pain management during and after surgery is crucial for ensuring patient comfort and preventing complications. In this study, the efficacy of dexamethasone combined with bupivacaine in providing analgesia through a superficial cervical plexus block was investigated. The study evaluated parameters such as intraoperative opioid consumption, postoperative pain management, reduction of symptoms like nausea and vomiting, and patient satisfaction. The results indicated that the use of dexamethasone in combination with bupivacaine significantly reduced the need for postoperative analgesia and improved overall patient satisfaction.
