Investigation of the Thoughts of Teachers, Students and Parents About Portfolio Applications

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, portfolyo uygulamalarına ilişkin ilköğretim birinci kademe öğretmenleri, beşinci sınıf öğrencileri ve bu öğrencilerin velilerinin görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Bu anlamda katılımcıların portfolyo sürecinde karşılaştıkları zorluklar, süreç kapsamında üzerlerine düşen rolleri yerine getirme durumları betimlenmeye çalışılmıştır.Çalışma, 2009-2010 öğretim yılında Van İli Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü'ne bağlı ilköğretim okullarında uygulanmıştır. Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü tarafından belirlenen bölgeler kapsamında okullar rassal olarak seçilmiş, seçilen okullarda 415 öğretmen ve 464 öğrenciye ulaşılmıştır. Uzman görüşüne başvurularak sosyo-ekonomik durumu yüksek, orta ve düşük şeklinde üçe ayrılan ilköğretim okullarından yine rassal olarak üç okul seçilmiş ve bu okullardaki velilere ulaşılmıştır.Araştırmanın amacına uygun olarak öğretmen ve öğrencilerin portfolyo hakkındaki görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla uzman görüşlerine başvurularak anket formları hazırlanmıştır. Velilerin portfolyo hakkındaki görüşlerini belirlemek amacı ile de yapılandırılmış görüşme formu oluşturulmuştur. Çalışmanın verileri nitel ve nicel araştırma teknikleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularının program geliştirme, değerlendirme ve sınama durumlarına ilişkin çalışmalara katkıda bulunacağı düşünülmektedir.Genel olarak öğretmen, öğrenci ve velilerin portfolyo uygulamasını gerekli gördüğü tespit edilmiştir. Ancak araştırmanın her üç paydaşı da çeşitli zorluklarla karşılaştıklarını ifade etmiştir. Öğretmenlerin en çok portfolyoların değerlendirilmesi aşamasında zorlandıkları anlaşılmıştır. Sosyo-ekonomik durumu farklı olan velilerin portfolyo hakkındaki görüşlerinde farklılıklara rastlanmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Portfolyo değerlendirme, öğretmen, öğrenci ve veli görüşleri.

The aim of this study is to observe the thoughts of primary education first level teachers, fifth class students and their parents about the portfolio applications. In this sense, the difficulties that samples encountered during portfolio process and the conditions of implementing roles within process are tried to describe.The study is applied to primary schools which are dependent to Van National Education Office of Directors in 2009-2010 education years. The schools were chosen randomly through the defined region, 415 teachers and 464 students are reached in chosen schools. Also, three schools were chosen randomly among the primary schools by the means of high, middle and low socio-economic conditions in the light of experts? opinions and parents were reached in these schools.Survey forms were prepared with the contributions of experts? opinions for the aim of defining thoughts of the teachers and the students about portfolios in accordance to aim of the study. Moreover, interview forms were composed to determine the opinions of parents about portfolios. Data of study were analyzed by the quantitative and qualitative research techniques. Findings of this study are thought to contribute to the studies regarding program development, evaluation and testing conditions.In general, it is ascertained that the teachers, the students and the parents consider the portfolio applications necessary. But, each of three partners express that they come up some difficulties. It is understood that the teachers mostly find the assessment of portfolios difficult. And it is detected that the parents from different socio-economic conditions have different thoughts about portfolios.Key Words: Portfolio, assesment, teacher, student and parents? thoughts.
