Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of plyometric and resistance training on MMP and CoQ10 in tennis players. A total of 24 tennis players between the ages of 20 and 25 studying at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University were included in the study, including the control group (n=8), plyometric training group (n=8) and resistance training group (n=8). Experimental study model, one of the quantitative research methods, was applied in the study. The levels of MMP 2, MMP 9, TIMP 1, TIMP 2 and CoQ10 analytes were determined in the blood samples taken from the participants. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS; IBM Corp, Armonk, NY) version 22 and a seven-day free trial of GraphPad Prism 8 were used for statistical analyses. Data were analyzed at a significance level of p<0.05. When MMP 2, MMP 9, TIMP 1, TIMP 2 and CoQ10 blood results were analyzed, there was a significant difference (p<0.05) between the pre-post test plasma CoQ10 and MMP 9 levels of the resistance group and the plyometric group. This difference was realized as a decrease in serum CoQ10 and MMP 9 levels. There was no difference between the groups (p>0.05). TIMP 2 level was significant in the resistance training group compared to the control and plyometric training groups (p=0.019) and the serum TIMP 2 level of the resistance training group was in a decreasing trend compared to the other two groups. The between-group difference in serum CoQ10 level between the resistance training group compared to the control and plyometric training group was significant (p=0.017) and the serum CoQ10 level of the resistance training group had a decreasing trend compared to the other two groups. There was no significant difference in the comparisons of other analytes between groups and between measurement times (p>0.05).In conclusion; resistance training and plyometric training had a positive effect on MMP 2, MMP 9, TIMP 1, TIMP 2 and CoQ10 parameters. In conclusion, it was determined that resistance training and plyometric training provided a positive result on MMP 2, MMP 9, TIMP 1, TIMP 2 and CoQ10 parameters. However, further longitudinal studies are needed by increasing the sample size. Keywords: tennis, plyometric, resistance, mmp, tımp, coq10
