Effects of Biophilic Buildi̇ng Façade Design on User Perception: the Case Study of Van

Abstract

Bu tezin ana amacı, yapılması olası biyofilik bina cephesi tasarımlarına, kullanıcıların vereceği tepkileri ve biyofilik cephe tasarımlarının kullanıcıya etkilerini saptamaktır. Bu amaç kapsamında, bu tez çalışmasının ana hedefi biyofili teorisinin Mimari yapılarda nasıl uygulanabileceğinin ve bu uygulamalara kullanıcıların ne gibi tepkiler verdiklerinin tespit edilmesidir. Bu bağlamda Van kenti İpekyolu belediyesi sınırları içerisinde kalan Cumhuriyet, Kazım Karabekir ve İki Nisan caddelerinde bulunan binalardan fotoğraflar çekilmiş ve bu binalara biyofilik tasarım ilkeleri doğrultusunda fotomontaj teknikleriyle giydirmeler yapılmıştır ve elde edilen fotoğraflarla bir görsel değerlendirme anketi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, 406 kişiye, 51 sorulu bir anket yapılmıştır. Ankette, 15 normal bina, 15 normal binaların simüle edilmiş biyofilik versiyonu ve 21 öneri bulunmaktadır. Anket sonuçlarına göre, kullanıcılar yüksek oranda biyofilik tasarımı olan yeşil cepheleri beğenmiştir. Ankette bulunan toplam 30 bina fotoğrafı arasında, biyofilik binaların tümü, normal binalara göre istatistiksel bakımdan anlamlı şekilde daha çok beğenilmiştir. Ayrıca, ankette doğal öğelerin iyi hissettirdiğine yönelik olan önermelere katılım oranı da oldukça yüksektir. Sonuçlara göre, Van kentinde biyofilik cephe çalışmaları kullanıcılar tarafından benimsenmiştir ve uygulandığı taktirde, beğenilme oranı yüksek olabilmektedir. The main purpose of this thesis is to determine the reactions of the users to the possible biophilic facade designs and the effects of the biophilic facade designs on the users. Within the scope of this purpose, the main objective of this thesis study is to determine how biophilia theory can be applied in Architectural structures and how users respond to that. In this context, photographs were taken from the buildings located on Cumhuriyet, Kazım Karabekir and İki Nisan streets, which are within the borders of the İpekyolu municipality of the city of Van, and these buildings were dressed with photomontage techniques in line with the biophilic design principles, and a visual evaluation survey was carried out with the photographs obtained. In this study, a questionnaire with 51 questions was conducted on 406 user. The survey included 15 normal buildings, 15 simulated biophilic versions of normal buildings, and 21 suggestions. According to the survey results, users highly liked the green façades with a biophilic design. Among the 30 building photographs in the survey, all biophilic buildings were statisticly significant more liked than normal buildings. In addition, the rate of participation in the suggestions that natural elements make you feel good in the survey is quite high. According to the results, biophilic façade works have been adopted by users in the city of Van and if applied, the success rate can be high.
