Identification and Dna Barcoding of Coccinellidae(coleoptera) Fauna in Bitlis Province
Abstract
Most of the species belonging to the Coccinellidae family are known as predatory insects. The larvae and adults of these beetles feed on insects such as aphids, thrips, spider mites and scale insects. Due to these features, Coccinellids have been widely used in biological control in recent years. This thesis study was carried out in order to determine the species belonging to the Coccinellidae family in the province of Bitlis in 2022 and to contribute to the richness of insect species and biological control studies in our country. In this context, samples were collected by conducting surveys on agricultural and non agricultural areas in Bitlis province and its districts. Species identifications were confirmed by making DNA barcoding as well as morphological identification of the collected samples. At the end of the study, a total of 9 species belonging to 6 different genera were identified. Among the species, Coccinella magnifica is the first record for Turkey and Oenopia lyncea, Parexochomus nigripennis, Scymnus apetzi and Scymnus (Pullus) subvillosus for Bitlis.
