Determination of Levels of Heavy Metals (as, Cd, Pb, Cu and Fe) in Feathers of Armenian Gull (larus Armenicus) Inhabiting Van Lake Basin

Abstract

ÖZET VAN GÖLÜ HAVZASINDA YAŞAYAN VAN GÖLÜ MARTISI'NIN (Larus armenicus) TÜYLERİNDEKİ AĞIR METAL (As, Cd, Pb, Cu ve Fe) DÜZEYLERİNİN BELİRLENMESİ TAŞKIN, Nurgül Yüksek Lisans Tezi, Biyoloji Anabilim Dalı Tez Danışmanı: Doç. Dr. Atilla DURMUŞ Temmuz 2018, 27 sayfa Haziran 2016- Temmuz 2017 tarihleri arasında yapılan bu çalışmada, Van Gölü Havzasında yerli bir tür olan Van Gölü Martısı (Larus armenicus)'nın vücut tüylerindeki metal konsantrasyonlarına bakıldı. Besin ağının üst basamağında yer alan kuşlarda ve bulundukları çevrelerindeki ağır metal birikimlerini tespit etmek amacı ile yapılan çalışmada; Demir (Fe), bakır (Cu), kurşun (Pb), kadmiyum (Cd) ve arsenik (As) konsantrasyonları belirlendi. Ergin, yavru ve su örneklerinde yapılan analiz sonucunda; ortalama Cu (6.43 mg/kg), Pb (4.02 mg/kg) ve Cd (0.14 mg/kg) konsantrasyonlarının en yüksek yavru örtü tüylerinde, As konsantrasyonun (5.17 mg/ml) su içinde ve Fe konsantrasyonun ise en fazla (94.32 mg/kg) ergin örtü tüyünde bulunduğu tespit edildi. Tüylerde metal konsantrasyon sıralaması Fe > Cu > Pb >As > Cd iken su örneklerinde bu sıralamanın Fe > As > Cu > Pb=Cd şeklinde değiştiği görüldü. Prof. Dr. Atilla DURMUŞ July 2018, 27 pages The metal concentrations of feathers of the Armenian gull (Larus armenicus), an indigenous species in the Van Lake Basin, had been observed in this study which took place between June 2016 and July 2017. These birds take place in higher trophic level; in this respect the aim of our study was to detect the heavy metal deposits in the vicinity by determining the concentrations of iron (Fe), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd) and arsenic (As). As a result of analysis made on adult, nestling and water samples; the As concentration was highest (5.17 mg / ml) in water, Fe concentration was highest (94.32 mg / kg) in adult cover feathers and the highest concentration of Cu (6.43 mg / kg), Pb (4.02 mg / kg), Cd (0.14 mg/ kg) was found in nestling cover feathers. While the metal concentration in the feather was observed as Fe > Cu > Pb > As > Cd and it was Fe > As > Cu > Pb = Cd in the water samples.
