Article Creation of Rock Fall Susceptibility Map of Van Province and Its Evaluation in Terms of Disaster(Ankara University, 2022) Mutlu, S.; Cindioğlu, İ.; Sağlam Selçuk, A.Natural disasters have caused physical, economic, social and environmental problems at Van province. Just during the period between 2019 and 2022, many natural disasters have occurred by earthquakes, floods, landslides, avalanches and rockfalls. Many regional factors effect the rockfall, which is a natural disaster. Rockfall is a natural disaster affected by many regional factors, including geology, geomorphology, climatology, earthquake and vegetation of the region. Generally, only one of these parameters is effective, but there are events in which each of them affects at different rates. Also, unconscious and unplanned urbanization due to human mobility and population growth also causes an increase in disaster risks. In order to reduce disaster risks and increase the level of resilience of the society and the living environment, sensitive areas that harbor danger should be clearly revealed. In this context, rockfall sensitivity within the borders of Van Province has been revealed by using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Rockfall susceptibility map, which is GIS-based data, will also form the basis for hazard and risk assessments. © 2022, Ankara University. Especially earthquakes are much more shocking and can make the social system unable to function in a short time. In this process, disaster victims should be evacuated without injury, move to emergency gathering areas and hold on to life in limited conditions far from their homes. Disaster periods, which force every segment of society, affect disabled people and their families much more deeply, especially those who need special needs. These periods are much more fragile for individuals with a disability that cannot meet their own needs and for the parents responsible for them. This research was conducted to reveal just such a process. It has been tried to reveal the difficulties experienced by parents responsible for disabled people who need special needs due to their mental insufficiency in emergency acute processes. The research is based on semi-structured interviews with 10 mothers with mentally disabled children with special needs who were exposed to the 2011 Van Earthquakes. The findings reveal that these families are victims of their disadvantaged situations. Families who faced significant difficulties during the evacuation process could not meet their basic needs for a long time. These families, whose vulnerability has been found to increase much more due to their economic inadequacies, have felt helpless in many issues. Families who stated that they could not get enough support for evacuation, shelter and meeting basic needs experienced difficulties in accessing public services. Families who stated that the housing conditions (container space) in the acute emergency process were not suitable for individuals with special needs stated that they were excluded from time to time. © 2023, Ankara University. A total of 10 cats of different ages, breeds and genders with clinically diagnosed femur fractures were used as research material. In the study, hybrid external fixators consisting of circular and linear fixators were used as osteosynthesis material. Closed reduction and external fixation methods were used in 2 cases diagnosed with closed fractures, while limited open reduction and external fixation methods were used in 8 cases diagnosed with open fractures or excessive dislocations. In the radiological examination findings, it was determined that fracture consolidation started on the post-operative 7th day in 9 cases and on the 10th day in 1 case, respectively. Fracture healing was completed in 4 weeks in 2 cases, in 5 weeks in 2 cases, and in 6 weeks in 6 cases (osseous callus was detected). Fixators were removed one week after healing was completed in all patients. In the study, soft tissue complications such as edema in the extremities in 3 cases, mild pin infection in 3 cases and open wounds in 4 cases were determined. However, it was observed that these complications did not adversely affect the recovery time. As a result, with the data obtained from the study, it was concluded that the distal femur fractures in cats of the age and weight scales examined in the study can be successfully treated with the hybrid external fixator system. © 2024, Ankara University. In this descriptive qualitative study, content analysis method is used to examine the data. It was found that activities and questions in the secondary school 5th-8th-grade Turkish textbooks that are published and approved by the Ministry of National Education in the 2018-2019 academic year were not balanced or systematic in terms of numerical and class levels. It is determined that students are intensively introduced with informational text types. In terms of frequency, it was determined that narrative texts were second, poetry was third. It is observed that the structure of informational texts is not adequately focused in terms of structural components. The elements of the narrative texts have been taken more places in terms of frequency. In this respect, it is difficult to mention a parallel between the types of texts discussed and the structural or types of components that are taken into consideration. Hence, it can be said that activities related to the structure of informational texts in textbooks remain superficial. © 2020, Ankara University.
