Teaching of Primary Seventh Class Science Unity Subjects by Using Concept Maps

Abstract

Bu çalışmada ilköğretim kurumlarında okutulan fen bilgisi derslerindeöğrencilerin temel fen prensiplerini anlayıp günlük yaşamla ilişkilendirilmesinisağlayan yöntemlerin geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Fakat günümüzde kalıcı ve anlamlıöğrenmeyi sağlayan yöntem ve tekniklerin yeteri kadar kullanılmadığıdüşünülmektedir.Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilköğretim 7. sınıfta okuyan öğrencilerin, fen bilgisikonularını klasik yöntem ile mi yoksa kavram haritası yöntemi ile mi daha iyianladıklarını tespit etmektir. Bu noktadan hareketle 7. sınıf fen bilgisi konularına görekavram haritaları oluşturulmuştur ve bu konularla ilgili hazırlanmış olan başarı testi,çalışmanın başında ön test olarak uygulanmış ve 3.5 ay sonra da aynı başarı testi sontest olarak uygulanmıştır. Testler Van ili merkezindeki bir ilköğretim okulunda dahaönceden belirlenmiş olan deney ve kontrol gruplarına uygulanmıştır. Böylece, butestlerden elde edilen verilerden yararlanılarak öğrencilerin hangi yöntemle daha iyiöğrendikleri tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.Yapılan çalışmanın sonucunda, kavram haritası yöntemiyle dersi işleyengrupla, işlemeyen grup arasında anlamlı bir fark olduğu gözlemlenmiştir.Elde edilen sonuçlar tartışılmış ve problemin çözümü için önerilerdebulunulmuştur.Anahtar kelimeler: İlköğretim fen bilgisi, Kavramlar, Kavram yanılgıları,Kavram haritası yöntemi, Öğretim, Ölçme.

In this study, it is aimed to developing of methods that acquire the primaryschool students understand the fundamental principals in science classes and theirrelations between daily life. But now days, it is thought not to used sufficiently themethods and techniques that make use to understand comprehensibly andpermanently.Main purpose of this thesis is determining the whether the seventh classstudents in primary school may learn effectively the science unit subjects by classicalmethods or by concept maps. And from this point, concept maps related with seventhclass level science units are prepared and some tests, pretest about these science unitsare given to classes and posttest are given to classes after 3,5 mounts. These classesare in a primary school in Van province, and experiment and control groups aredetermined from these classes before. In this way, using data obtained from these testswe tried to determine by which method the students may learn easily.As a result a meaningful difference was obtained between two groups whichis learning by using concept maps and by the other.Results obtained are discussed and some recommendations to solve theproblem are given.Key words: Assessment, Concepts, Concept maps, Misconceptions, Primaryscience, Teaching.
