Abstract
Türkiye?nin Orta Doğu?ya yönelik politikasında Batı ile ilişkilerinin seyri her zaman ana belirleyici etken olmuştur. Türkiye iki Dünya Savaşı arası dönemde Manda yönetimleri sebebiyle sömürgeci devletelerle sınır komşusu olduğundan Ortadoğuya karşı güvenlik eksenli bir dış politika stratejisi geliştirdi. Kendisini doğrudan ilgilendiren Musul ve Hatay meseleleri dışında Orta Doğu olaylarına ilgisiz kaldı. Türkiye II. Dünya Savaşı?nda ?savaş dışı? kalmasına rağmen Orta Doğu, Akdeniz ve Karadenize olan konumundan dolayı savaşın bütün ağır koşullarını yaşadı. II.
Turkey?s politics towards the Middle East has always been determined by the state?s relations with the West. Before the Second World War, Turkey had no interest in the Middle East, except Hatay and Mosul questions which had directly affected the state. Although Turkey was neutral during the Second World War, it experienced all the harsh war conditions due to its location which is between Middle East, Mediterranean and Black Sea. During the Second World War, Turkey?s politics towards Middle East, as consistent and steady continuations of the Ataturk period, were shaped by `Westernism? and `Status Quo? principles. Turkey supported the Middle East independence movements only in the discursive level and did not provide any practical help. After the end of the war, Turkey, along with the Truman doctrine, joined the Allies due to the increasing Soviet threats and economic problems; and followed a distant and cold foreign policy towards Middle East. Key Words: Middle East, Strategy, Turkey, Second World War.
