Freemasonry in Mimar Sinan Magazine

Abstract

Mimar Sinan Dergisi'nde masonluk daha çok pozitif yönleri ile ele alınmaktadır. Kimilerine göre, anlaşılmayan, çözülemeyen sembolleri ve gizemleri masonların çözüp anlam yüklediklerini dergi bizlere aktarmaktadır. Semboller ve ritüeller çağlar boyu, değişik yerlerde değişik zamanlarda bilgiden hikmete kadar değişik anlamlarda kullanılmıştır. Mimar Sinan'da ezoterizm, kullanana göre, farklı şeyler ifade etmektedir. Ancak, genel olarak, ezoterizm küçük bir grupla sınırlandırılmış olan, dinleyicisi, seyircisi bulunmaya, anlaşılabilmesi için belirli bir formasyon gerektiren; hemde biçimi farklı olan yani gizli bir yazılımı olan, sır saklanan, semboller kullanan, içeriği farklı olan metafizik bilgiler içeren inisiyatik bir disiplinin anlaşılmakta olduğunu söylemek yanlış olmayacaktır. Ancak, biçim ve içerik genellikle birbiri içine girmiş olduğundan, ezoterizm okültle eş anlamlı olarak da kullanılmaktadır. Mason kelimesinin anlamı 'duvar ustası' anlamına gelen meslek yapılandırmasıdır. Bu meslek grubu Masonluğun operatif dönemini oluşturmaktadır. XVII. yüzyıl sonuna gelindiğinde ise Masonluk içerisine meslekten olmayanları da kabul ederek spekülatif döneme geçmeye başlamıştır.1813 yılında İngiltere Birleşik Büyük Locası'nın kurulmasıyla evrensel masonluk oluşturulmuştur. Masonluğun ilk dönemleri Operatif Masonluk, Spekülâtif Masonluk arasında bir çatışma halindeydi. Spekülatif Masonluk kurulunca, Operatif Masonluk döneminden kalan gelenek ve yöntemlerin hiç değiştirilmeksizin uygulanmasını isteyenler ile çağdaşlaşma taraftarı olan masonlar arasında bir uyuşmazlık çıktı. Bu durum Operatif Masonluğun güç kaybetmesine neden oldu. Masonluğun varlıklarını sürdürebilme ve koruyabilecekleri en uygun yer İngiltere oldu. Bu süreçte masonluğa katılımlar artarken XVII. yüzyılın sonlarına doğru meslekten olmayanları da masonluğa alındığı görülmekteydi. Bu kişilere masonluğa sonradan katıldıklarından dolayı 'kabul edilmişler' denilmekteydi. Masonluğa fikri ve mimari bir boyut kazandıran bu kesime Spekülatif Masonluk denilmekteydi. Masonluğun kurulmasından bu yana ayaklarına defalarca çelme takılsa da masonların verdikleri evrensel mesaj, yaptıkları yardımlaşma ve dayanışma halkasını kurdukları dernek ve localarda zamanla meyvesini vermiş taraftar bulmalarına ve halkayı genişletmelerine sebep olmuşlardır.

In Mimar Sinan magazine, freemasonry is discussed mostly with its positive aspects.According to some, the magazine tells us that the masons solved the symbols and mysteries that were incomprehensible and unsolvable and gave them meaning. Symbols and rituals have been used throughout the ages in different ways, with different meanings ranging from knowledge to wisdom. In Mimar Sinan, esotericism means different things depending on the user. However, in general, esotericism is understood as an initiatory discipline that is limited to a small group, does not have a listener or an audience, requries a certain formation in order to be understood, and has a different from, that is, a secret software, keeps secrets, uses symbols, and contains metaphysical information with different content. It would not be wrong to say that it is. However, since from and content are often intertwined, esotericisim is also used synonymously with the occult. Mason which means 'stonework master' is a occupational organisation. This organisation consists the operative period of Masons. Masonry, entered the speculative period at the and of the seventeenth century by accepting people out of the occupation. Universal Masonry was constituted with the establishing of United Grand Lodge of England in 1813.Since masons are a minority in many countries, problems of language and acceptance of God as the great architect of the universe have emerged among the Masonic lodges.In many lodges, since the number of masons speaking a foreign language was low, the widely known language was used, and the Turks held meetings in Turkish. The Freemasons' philosophy is the French Revolution's ideas of freedom, equality,justice and fraternity.They will realize these ideas and form unity with the states and religions of the World with the Masonic brotherhood. While they first showed their presence with charities in the Ottoman Empire, they later formed their lodges. As it is known that Mimar Sinan Magazine is a masonic magazine,it is possible to find reflections of the philosophical, political views or religious beliefs of many poets and writers in the magazine. Literature and history researchers have also conducted researc on these views and beliefs in order to better understand the Works and traced them in the work. Masonry, which can be considered as a philosophical view and a way of life in a sense, has influenced the views of some poets and writers,and this system of thought has also had an impact on their Works. In this study,people who were declared to be masons published in the Mimar Sinan Magazine with the subtitle 'The historical, contemporary and realistic research organ of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Turkey' were discussed. On the other hand the conspiracy theoryand the public opinion about Freemasonry were discussed. It can be said that speculative thought has a place for itself, and although the truth or wrongness of these is not the subject of our study,the positive or negative feature of being a freemason or not is not discussed in our study. We tried to determine the situation through Mimar Sinan Magazine.
