A Taxonomıc Study About Melons Belongıng To the Genus of Cucumis L. (Cucurbıtaceae) in Van

Abstract

Van yöresinde yetiştirilen Cucumis L. genusuna ait kavunlar üzerinde ekolojik ve sitotaksonomik çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Çalışmalarda Van'da yetiştirilen ?Sıhke? kavunu ve ?Şamama? kavun adıyla yöresel adlandırılmaları yapılan kavunlar kullanılmıştır.Araştırmalar sonucunda; lokal kültivar olarak üç takson belirlenmiş olup, bunlardan Cucumis melo L. subsp. melo var. chamama nov. Fen. Bil. Enst: VANF, Van(2009),in Turkey. kültür formu ilk defa taksonomik olarak tespit edilerek kayıt altına alınmıştır. Diğer iki kültivarında taksonomik olarak tespit ve teyidi tamamlanmıştır. Bu çalışma sonucunda temel kromozom sayısı x=12 ve 2n=24 diploid kromozom sayısı olarak belirlenmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Cucumis, Şamama, Sitotaksonomi, Cucurbitaceae, Sıhke, Kantalop,

We have had some ekological and sitotaxonomic studies on melons belonging to Cucumis L. genus grown in Van. In this studies melons, with regional names ?sıhke? and ?chamama? wich grown in Van have been used.According to our study 3 type taxon of local culture was observed but the Cucumis melo L. subsp. melo var. chamama nov. Fen. Bil. Enst: VANF, Van(2009),in Turkey. culture is the first culture taxonomic which is determined and studied on, also other two culture determined taxonomically. This study we obtained haploid chromosome is x=12 and diploid is 2n=24.Key Words:Cucumis, Chamama, Sitotaxonomic, Cucurbitaceae, Sıhke, Cantalupe.
