Review of the Monitoring and Evaluation of Academic Skills (meas) Project According To Teachers' Opinions

Abstract

Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı, eğitim öğretim faaliyetlerinin izlenmesine, araştırılmasına ve değerlendirilmesine yönelik bir proje geliştirmiştir. Bu proje, Akademik Becerilerin İzlenmesi ve Değerlendirilmesi (ABİDE) projesi olarak adlandırılmıştır. Bu proje aracılığıyla öğrencilerin akademik becerilerinin izlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç kapsamında öğrencilerin, eleştirel düşünme, yaratıcı düşünme ve problem çözme gibi üst düzey düşünme becerilerini ölçmeye odaklandığı söylenebilir. Öğrenme ortamlarının uygulayıcı ve planlayıcı öğretmenler olması nedeniyle ABİDE projesi hakkında onların görüşlerinin alınmasının önemli olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu doğrultuda yapılan araştırma, projenin katkılarını daha iyi gözlemleyebilmek ve projenin eksik yönlerini daha iyi açığa çıkarmak için proje süresi içerisinde yer alan öğretmenlerin görüşlerini temel alarak alan yazına özgün bir katkı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, ABİDE projesi hakkında ortaokul öğretmenlerinin görüşlerini belirmektedir. Bu araştırma, olgu bilim (fenomenoloji) deseni ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın katılımcıları, 2023-2024 eğitim-öğretim yılında Van ilinde görev yapan farklı branştan 15 öğretmenden oluşmaktadır. Katılımcılar, amaçlı örneklem yöntemlerinden biri olan kolay ulaşılabilir örneklemeye göre belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri sekiz açık uçlu sorudan oluşan yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Toplanan verilerin analizinde nitel analiz çeşitlerinden içerik analiz kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonunda öğretmenler ABİDE projesinin, öğrencilerin zihinsel becerilerinin ortaya çıkarılmasında, kendilerini ifade etmelerinde, okuduğunu anlama ve dinledikleriyle ilgili çıkarım yapmalarında etkili olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. Bunun yanı sıra günlük hayatta karşılaşılan problemleri çözmede yol gösterici olmasında, anlama ve yorumlama gibi bilişsel düzeyleri arttırabilmesinin ve öğrencilere tecrübe kazandırmalarında etkili olduğunu vurgulamışlardır.The Ministry of National Education has developed a project for monitoring, researching, and evaluating educational activities. This project is called the Monitoring and Evaluation of Academic Skills (MEAS) project. Through this project, it is aimed to monitor the academic skills of students. Within the scope of this purpose, it can be said that students focus on measuring high-level thinking skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking and problem solving. Since teachers are practitioners and planners in learning environments, it is thought that it is important to get their opinions about the MEAS project. The research conducted in this direction aims to make an original contribution to the literature based on the opinions of the teachers who took part in the project in order to better observe the contributions of the project and to better reveal the shortcomings of the project. The purpose of this research is to determine the opinions of secondary school teachers about the MEAS project. This research was conducted with the phenomenology design. The research participants consist of 15 teachers from different branches working in Van providence during the 2023-2024 education-teaching year. Participants were determined according to easily accessible sampling which is one of the purposeful sampling methods. The data of the research were collected with a structured interview form consisting of eight open-ended questions. Content analysis, a type of qualitative analysis, was used to analyze the collected data. At the end of the research, teachers stated that the MEAS project was effective in revealing students' mental skills, expressing themselves, understanding what they read and making inferences about what they listened to. In addition, they emphasized that it is effective in providing guidance in solving problems encountered in daily life, increasing cognitive levels such as understanding and interpretation, and helping students gain experience.
