Birth Culture and Wooden Cradles in Bitlis-Mutki

Abstract

Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi'nde yer alan Bitlis, uzun bir geçmişe sahip olup birçok medeniyete ev sahipliği yapmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında ele alınan Mutki'de, ilk yerleşimin kimler tarafından gerçekleştirildiği kesin olarak bilinmemektedir. Fakat Bitlis'te ilk yerleşimin Urartular döneminde olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu doğrultuda, Bitlis'in ilçesi olan Mutki'de de ilk yerleşimin aynı uygarlık zamanında olduğu söylenebilir. Bu çalışmada, Bitlis-Mutki'deki doğum kültürü ve ahşap beşikler ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın bir kısmını oluşturan doğum, varoluş sürecinin başlangıcı olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bu evrede bölgelere göre çeşitli gelenekler ve adetler ortaya çıkmaktadır. Mutki'de de halkla yapılan sözlü görüşmelerden yola çıkılarak geçmişten günümüze kadar devam eden birçok geleneğin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Doğum evresinin bir parçasını oluşturan beşik, Türkçe bir kelime olup 'Süt çocuklarını yatırmaya ve sallayarak uyutmaya yarayan, tahta ve demirden yapılmış küçük bir karyola' anlamına gelmektedir. Her çocuğun ana kucağından sonraki ilk barınma yeri olması açısından büyük önem arz etmektedir. Saha çalışması sonucunda ilçede 65 adet beşiğe rastlanılmıştır. Tespit edilen bu etnografik eserlerin fotoğrafları çekilerek katalog çalışmaları yapılmıştır. Sonuç kısmında da somut ve soyut kültür varlıklarının Sanat Tarihi alanındaki yeri ve önemi vurgulanmaya çalışılmıştır.

Located in the Eastern Anatolia region, Bitlis has a long history and has hosted manny civilizations. It is not known exactly by whom the first settlement was carried out in Mutki, which is considered within the scope of the study. However, it is thought that the first settlement in Bitlis was during the Urartian period. In this direction, it can be said that the first settlement in Mutki, the district of Bitlis, was in the same civilization period. In this study, the birth culture and wooden cradles in Bitlis-Mutki are discussed. Birth, which a part of the work, is accepted as the beginning of the existence process. In this phase, various traditions and customs emerge according to the regions. Based on the oral interviews with the public in Mutki, it has been determined that there are many traditions that continue from the past to the present. The cradle, which is a part of the birth phase, is a Turkish word and means 'a small bed made of wood and iron, used to put the infants to sleep and shake them to sleep'. It is of great importance in terms of being the first shelter for every child after the mother's lap. As result of the fieldwork, 65 cradles were found in the district. Photographs of these etnographic works were taken and catalog studies were carried out. In the conclusion part, the place and importance of tangible and intangible cultural assets in the field of Art History has been tried to be emphasize.
