Stone Ornamentation of Architectural Buildings in the Ottoman Period in Mardin

Abstract

Tarih boyunca kültürel bir kavşak olma kimliği ile farklı din ve etnik kökenli insanların barış, kardeşlik ve toplumsal uzlaşma ile bir arada yaşadıkları bir kent olan Mardin; benzerlerine az rastlanır bir kültür ve tarih mirasına sahiptir.Mardin'de İslam dönemi mimari süsleme anlayışı uzun bir sürece uygulanan sanat gelenekleriyle birlikte Hıristiyanlığın bölgedeki varlığıyla daha zengin bir hal almıştır.Bölgenin geleneksel yapı malzemesi olan ve kolay işlenebilen sarı kalker taşı, Mardin yapılarındaki mimari süslemede, tarih boyunca süre gelen geleneği devam ettirerek Osmanlı Döneminde de kullanılan malzeme olarak yerini almıştır.Mimaride plastik süslemede geometrik, bitkisel sonsuzluk anlayışı içinde simetrik ve uyum içinde taşa işlenmiştir. Mimaride kullanılan bir diğer süsleme türü olan figüratif süsleme yer yer yalnız çoğu zaman ise bitkisel süslemeler arasında farklı bir kompozisyon oluşturarak kullanılmıştır. Mimaride mukarnas, kemer, silme, sütunce gibi yapısal elemanlara da süsleme niteliği kazandırılmasıyla cephelere hareket kazandırılmıştır.Mimari süsleme alanında motifleri ve kompozisyonları ile klasik bir İslam üslubu geliştiren Artuklu dönemini takip eden Osmanlı Döneminde, özellikle sivil mimari olmak üzere bölgedeki en güzel örnekleri teşkil etmektedir.Anadolu'nun tarihi kentleri içinde önde gelen Mardin bütün olumsuz şartlara rağmen etkileyici görünümünü korumaya ve kentin tarihini ve kültürünü yansıtmaya devam etmektedir.
