The Importance and Place of the Pazar Postasi in Turkish Literature

Abstract

Pazar Postası, 1951-1952 ile 1956-1959 yılları arasında iki farklı dönemhalinde yayımlanan haftalık siyasû bir gazetedir. Gazete, 1956 yılından sonrakiyayımında, DP baskısından ötürü sanat ve edebiyat sayfalarıyla ön plâna çıkmıştır.Gazetenin Türk edebiyatı açısından en önemli yanı, İkinci Yeni olarak bilinenşiir hareketiyle öne çıkmasıdır. Günümüzde bile tartışmaları yapılan İkinci Yenihareketinin en canlı ve kapsamlı olarak tartışıldığı yer Pazar Postası'dır. Bubağlamda Pazar Postası gazetesi, İkinci Yeni'nin esas yayım organıdır.Pazar Postası, Türk şiirinin yanı sıra Türk dili, romanı, öyküsü, resmi,müziği, sineması ve tiyatrosuna sağladığı yeni görüşlerle de önemli bir yere sahiptir.Ayrıca 1950 ile 1960 yılları arasında Türkiye'de ortaya çıkan siyasal, sosyal veekonomik gelişmeler, Pazar Postası sayfalarından rahatlıkla takip edilebilir.

Pazar Postasi (The Sunday Post), a political newspaper, was published once aweek between 1951-1952 and 1956-1959. Howewer, after 1956 the newspaper gavemore priority to the literature and the artistic articles because of the politicalpressures of the Democrat Party that governed Turkey in1950-1960.Pazar Postasi was quite important for the Turkish Literature as İkinci Yeni(The Secondary New)-a new poetry movement of that period- members cametogether and published ther works in the newspaper. The most vivid andcomprehensive debates, some of which are still important today, had been reflectedthrough the newspaper?s pages. Thus, one may call this newspaper as the mainpublication of this group of intellectuals.Thi newspaper had been reserved a very important place in the History of theTurkish Literature as it was provided significant visions to the Turkish language,novel, story, picture, music, cinema and theatre. Alongside to these all, it also gavegreat deal of information on the political, social an economic situations anddevelopments of 1950?s.
